Interstate Windows Reviews

Explore Interstate Windows reviews on this Pennsylvania based company on their 5200, 6800, 8300, 9800 series.

Company Information: The Interstate Window And Door company is headqurtered in Pennsylvania and sells their products through a dealer network located throughout much of the east coast and mid west. The company doesn't have that big of a footprint in the window and door industry and is very much a regional company.

Are Interstate Windows Any Good? I just don't hear enough about them one way of the other to say definitely. They do sell a number of series, including the CompositWood 9800 and 9400 series, the InVison 6800, 5000, 5100 and 5200 series. In a word, I think the jury is still out as far as I'm concerned. But stay tuned...

Interstate Window And Door Company gets a 3.8 out of 5 stars based on 13 Interstate Windows reviews below.

Interstate Windows Reviews In PA

Hi Dane, I received a quote from RI Home Improvement for installation of Interstate Windows out of PA (the guy spent an hour explaining why his window was better than any other window on the planet which drove me nuts). The sales rep had a different take on my bow window. He did not believe it was possible or even worth the carpentry work to fix the sill and underneath (not fully rotted but enough where it needs to be fully replaced or somehow repaired). His suggestion was just inserting a new bow window or three double hungs in its place. His quote was $31,893 with a bay window and $26,582 with no bay window but inserting three double hungs in its place eliminating the bow features (just flat). The quote was not even in detail, just a lump sum. I quickly thanked him and showed him the door as there is no sense in negotiating crazy numbers.

With that being said, I may get one more quote, and since the Gentek numbers seem reasonable, my plan is to go back to the rep to ensure that his company can handle the bow window as he is quoting it (replacing 3 sills as I think more is needed). I want to avoid a situation where they come back to do the work and figure out what they thought they can do, they can't, and we get into a jam that could have been avoided. The bow window faces my backyard, so it is not really that important from an aesthetic feature, it just gave our dining area a bit of a larger look and a shelf to put stuff on. My family can live without it and be happy with a flat window space if an actual bow window replacement is too expensive as it is not worth it to us. Gentek Windows Reviews

Does this make sense?

[Website Editor Reply]

Lou, I do think this makes sense. If the bow window isn't that important to you, the 3 double hungs should suffice. I don't find Interstate windows to be all that great myself so I think you are better going with the Gentek option.

Interstate 6800 Series vs. Simonton 5500

Dane, I have two proposals from different window companies. One is using Simonton 5500 series and the Inovo sliding glass door. The other company is using Interstate 6800 Invision windows and the Interstate 6400 sliding glass door. I can't find much information online about Interstate expect that they are in Pennsylvania and have been making windows since 1984. I appreciate your help. There's over a $5000 difference in price.

I had a quote for Provia Endure windows and doors but they wouldn't DP at 50 which the local requirements need to be.

[Website Editor Reply]

Rob, I honestly don't know enough about Interstate Windows and Doors to give you an opinion on them. I've heard they are good, but that's the extent of my knowledge. The Simonton 5500 and Innovo door are good products themselves. I can vouch for them -- couple of course with excellent installation. I'm leaning towards saying that if this were mine, I might go with the company that gets the best reviews.

So look up the companies online who come out to give you the bid by googling "[company name] window reviews" and aggregate their ratings from Google, Yelp, HomeAdvisor, Angi, etc. That should give you a pretty clear picture of the quality you can expect.

Interstate 6800 Windows Cost

I have a series of 18 double hungs that need replacing. Here are my bids, I've gotten quite a few.

Polaris Ultraweld: $450 per window
Interstate 6800 Model: $500 per window
Okna 600 Model: $555 per window
Vytex Fortis: $600 per window
Soft lite Pro Model: $600 per window

Nick - Homeowner - from 2020

[Website Editor Reply]

Nick, you have some really awesome per window pricing there. The Polaris Ultraweld is one of the best per window price I've seen, tough to get away from that.

Interstate Insight 6800 Price Bid

I have six windows, all double hungs, all standard sizes, with no grids. I live near Atlanta and would love your take.

Sunrise Essential: $650 per
Great Lakes Comfort: $450 per
Okna 600: $600 per
Interstate Insight 6800: $470 per
Zen Nirvana: $675 per

Rohan - Homeowner - from 2019

[Site Editor's Answer]

Rohan, my picks would go Great Lakes, Okna 600, then the Interstate option.

Interstate Windows Reviews :: 8300 Series

Interstate 8300 vs. Great Lakes

I know you had mentioned there is not much information about interstate windows but their efficiency seems better than great lakes without much cost difference.

Great Lakes Comfort Smart: U factor: 0.3, SHGC:0.2
Interstate 8300: U factor: 0.26, SHGC:0.21, Air leak 0.05cfm/ft2

Any thoughts on interstate?

Rohan - Homeowner - from 2019

[Site Editor's Answer]

Rohan, as I said I know very little about Interstate. I'm not as impressed with the U-factor difference, but I must say the air leakage on the Interstate of .05 is impressive. If that's with their standard double hung window, then I'd say go for it. Sometimes companies can use different tricky methods to achieve their performance data.

Interstate Windows Reviews :: Compositwood 9800 Series

Interstate Compositwood 9800 vs. ViWinco Cambridge

Dane, I'm replacing 30 windows in a home on the Chesapeake bay, Sunrise and Softlite do not cover the eastern shore of Maryland or Virginia, the local installer recommends Interstate Compositwood 9800 with double pane low e on both panes @ $19,100 or Interstate Insight Vinyl 6800 double pane low e for $17,700. Do you have any recommendations or knowledge on these windows?

Another contractor is quoting ViWinco Cambridge, but after reading your reviews, I have since ruled them out.

Wayne - Homeowner - from 2018

[Website Editor Reply]

Wayne, I hear very little about Interstate windows. I took a look at their website and they seemed quite credible, but I can't vouch for the quality of the windows they make. I would definitely stick with the higher end Compositwood 9800 if you do go with them. I would think that at least Okna would be available in your area. I'd love to see a comparison quote from them own the 500 or 800 series from them. I would think they would be similarly priced and Okna has a great reputation in the industry. I think you are right to rule out the ViWinco Cambridge, it is a subpar window compared to the two mentioned above.

Are you sure Sunrise and Softlite don't cover the Chesapeake? I found a couple of links to possible dealers in your area.

Tim - Site Editor - from 2018

[Wayne's Reply]

I have a request to Okna on availability here, haven't received a reply yet, I like what I'm reading about the Okna 800, I am looking for a very good or top quality window. I did speak to a Sunrise rep yesterday, he didn't think the See Thru Window company out of Waldorf, Md. would travel that far but is passing my info to them.

SoftLite is trying to use an installation contractor to sell their windows on the eastern shore of Maryland, but he is a very small company from eastern shore Virginia and has never installed their windows, I'm a little leery of him, reminds me a a used car dealer, he did quote the SoftLite LS at $20,000, it didn't sound like a bad price, 75% of the windows are 36" x 72", some larger, some smaller.

Wayne - Homeowner - from 2018

[Website Editor Reply]

Keep me in the loop on the Okna 800 price. It seems odd that Sunrise doesn't have a presence in your area, but see if the See Thru wants the business and will give you a bid.

I agree with you on both points on the Soft-Lite dealer. If he sounds like a used car dealer, he probably operates his business that way. What happens if something goes wrong in ordering etc.? You're out of luck.

I also agree that the Imperial LS for $20K is a great price. Tough to beat that window...

Interstate Replacement Windows

I am looking for replacement window and had a sales rep come by today, He has Interstate windows, both vinyl and composite. He made a very good sales pitch for this brand, with a lifetime guarantee. But this brand is not listed in the ones you reviewed, even though they have been in business since 1983. Do you know anything about this brand and would you recommend it?

Linda - Homeowner - from 2017

[Site Editor's Answer]

Linda, I don't know a ton about Interstate windows. I looked on what I believe is their website and found some performance data that is actually pretty impressive. I don't think the composite and vinyl windows are going to be considered top tier like an Okna or Soft-Lite, but I think you'd be right to consider it a solid mid range performer.

I looked at a few website forums and saw that some consumers and installers had an issue with how the windows looked, specifically with the top rail and thickness of the window frame. So assuming you don't have an issue with the overall aesthetics, I don't see why you wouldn't at least consider them. Of course, I'd like to see you get a couple more bids and compare the windows on the performance data.

General Interstate Windows Reviews

Interstate Vinyl Windows

Do you have knowledge about the quality of interstate vinyl windows as well as Revere Berkshire Elite? Thank you.

Iris - Homeowner - from 2019

[Site Editor's Answer]

Iris, I would say that Interstate is a solid mid range manufacturer. I'd go with one of their better series though. The Revere Berkshire is a solid model as well, a strong mid range vinyl window. Given solid installation from a reputable company, I'd say you should be good. The Preservation is the better window, but not by much. Pricewise, I'll bet these two are much lower.

Tim - Site Editor - from 2019

Interstate Windows Reviews

A lot of people think Interstate is a wood or wood composite window because it has a wood interior option. It's actually a cellular PVC composite. For the same material, Okna's Starmark is probably a better bet.
