Ply Gem Window Prices

Explore PlyGem windows prices and costs on their Contractor, Pro and Premium window series. Ply Gem is a solid mid-grade window manufacturer who has bought up quite a few window companies over the past decade, including CertainTeed, MW, Alenco, Patriot, and Great Lakes windows.

The Great Lakes series are often considered some of their best, while the CertainTeeds are often rated poorly. Great Lakes has been kept as a stand along company, while the other companies have been integrated into the Ply Gem "family" and are marketed under this name. Yes, the window industry can be confusing!

A decade ago, Ply Gem was more of a building supply distributor, but the company has pivoted into a big player in the home siding and window market. They manufacture and market both new construction and replacement windows and are known mainly for their vinyl windows (although they do make the Mira Series, which is an aluminum clad wood window).

Ply Gem Contractor Window Prices

The Ply Gem Contractor window is an entry level vinyl option geared towards developers and contractors looking for a bargain window. It doesn't have the quality engineering and design that most homeowners require for a long lasting replacement window. Well suited to rental properties or flipping a house, the Contractor model doesn't have lots of extras and upgrades that make for a quality window. Compare the Ply Gem Contractor model with Jeld Wen Premium vinyl windows.

Ply Gem 400 Contractor Series Costs

Hello, I was wondering what the price difference between the contractor series and the pro series of a 400 sliding window. We had them installed already, but was hoping to just get a bit of information. I found your email on the website so I hope you are the appropriate point of contact.

Saydee - Homeowner - from 2017

[Site Editor's Answer]

Saydee, the Ply Gem Pro model is a definite step up from the Ply Gem Contractor model. My guess would be a 15% to 25% difference in price from one to the other. This is going to vary based on who is selling you the window, what pricing they get, their overhead etc. I would put that same percent mark up to go from the Ply Gem Pro to the Premium, which is quite a good window.

Ply Gem Pro Windows Prices

The Ply Gem Pro window is a better than the Contractor, more of a solid mid grade window, but is still often marketed as a builder grade window - thus the name Pro. The Ply Gem Pro does not include a reinforced sash as you will find on the Premium Series, but doesn't turn in fairly respectable numbers - R-Value of 3.45, AI of 0.19, U-factor of 0.29, SHGC of 0.27 and DP30. This window carries a 25 year transferable warranty, although this does not include coverage for glass breakage. Compare the Ply Gem Pro to Milgard Tuscany window costs.

Ply Gem Pro Pricing

My project requires 26 windows.

Ply Gem Pro - $10500

Milgard Tuscany - $16,000

Kat - Homeowner - from 2016

[Site Editor's Response]

Kat, the price difference between the Tuscany and the Ply Gem Pro enough to warrant a closer look at the Pro model. If the installer you are planning to use with the Ply Gem Pro seems very solid, I think you should go with them. If the Tuscany installer is better, I would work to get the Milgard quote down to a number you feel comfortable with and go with them.

Ply Gem Premium Windows Prices

While the Pro model only comes in a single hung, the Ply Gem Premium window can be ordered as a double hung, which many homeowners prefer.

The Premium includes a lifetime warranty, but again doesn't include a glass breakage provision. The Premium has similar numbers to the Pro, but with a better DP50 rating, which means it can stand up to heavier winds and impact. Compare the Ply Gem Premium Series to Simonton 5300 windows prices.

Ply Gem Mira Windows Prices

The Ply Gem Mira window uses an .080 extruded aluminum clad exterior with a real wood Douglas Fir interior. The Ply Gem Mira Windows are a relabeled MW window, which is a company that Ply Gem bought out some years ago. MW didn't have the best reputation for quality, probably one reason that they went out of business. As to the quality of the Mira wood window series, they seem to be decent, but not great.

It's probably fair to say that the Mira window is used as a builder grade wood window, similarly to a Jeld Wen Builder Wood window. Compare the Ply Gem Mira Series to Marvin Integrity costs, although the Integrity should get the nod in terms of quality and workmanship.

Ply Gem 1500 Windows Prices

The Ply Gem 1500 Vinyl window is a builder grade vinyl window option that uses a slimmer frame for more glass area. The downside will be worse performance numbers due to reduction in the amount of frame material. The window does not offer a ton of impressive features, although it does come in either a brick mold, beveled or flat frame style and in four exterior frame color options.

Please help, I am trying to figure this out, I have 2 quotes, one from Window World in cedar rapids Iowa on a Alside window; double pane, Jam box replacement and interior trim replacement, wood grain vinyl inside and white outside for $8100.00. The other quote is from the Window Source in cedar falls Iowa, these are PlyGem 9000, double pane insulated frame, all the rest is the same wood grain vinyl interior and white exterior for $8300.00.

Brody - Homeowner - from 2016

[Site Editor's Response]

Hi Brody, I would probably give the nod to the Ply Gem, although it depends what model or series Alside we are talking about. I like the Mezzo from Alside, although certainly there are better brands available than either of these two options. How many windows is this for?
