My Take On This Company: Honestly, I don't have the enough information on this company to say one way or another. I do like Simonton though.

Coughlin Windows & Doors Warranty

The company does offer a one year labor warranty on their installations. Also, Coughlin (through Simonton) gives a double lifetime warranty that covers all manufacturing defects. Further, they offer an accidental glass breakage provision and the warranty is transferable to a subsequent homeowner. However, I forget how long the Simonton warranty is good for once the transfer occurs. Simonton is a bit tricky because they sell so many series and warranty details can vary based on the product and the years in which the window/door was sold.

San Diego Replacement Windows

Hello, we are looking to replace our existing single pane douglas fir windows, 11 and a 6 low quality vinyl windows in San Diego. Specifically, I am interested in composite, fiberglass or aluminum wood hybrids. Also, would love some tilt turn windows as well. Any companies with a decent product that wont break the bank? Ideally, this would love this to be under $35k. Additionally, we are looking to stay here long term so want a quality product but not a pressured salesman.

[After I sent the recommended window list]

This is very helpful. I am mostly thinking fiberglass or wood. Also, have you had luck finding European windows anywhere? We got a quote for Andersen 100 and Milgard Tuscany. Waiting to hear back from Marvin. For 17 windows. Lastly, I filled out your contractor form. Thanks for being such a great resource.

$27.7k for Andersen 100
$23.5k for Milgard Tuscany
$21.5k for Simonton 7500 from Coughlin

[Site Editor's Answer]

Derek, thanks, I'd be curious to see what you get from the "contractor" form for your area. Just know that with wood-clad, the warranty is usually 20 years and that's often how long they last. The organic material tends to break down much quicker than vinyl or fiberglass. Although this doesn't necessarily apply to homeowners who REALLY take good care of their windows. If the ProVia Endure is available in your area, take a look at their faux wood interiors - I think they look very good and the window will last 2x over an organic wood. Plus, they will deliver much better energy efficiency, food for thought.

As for the bids you have, I think the Simonton 7500 series at $21K is probably your best bet. Marvin is really nice, but I would assume that the bid would be somewhere like $35K for the Marvin Elevate or Essentials series.
