Powell And Sons Introduction
From everything I can tell, Powell And Sons is not a real home improvement company. Instead, it is a "shell" website that advertises all manner of services, including replacement windows, doors, gutters, roofing replacement services, etc. The goal (as far as I can tell) is to capture consumer information in order to then resell that information it to local home improvement companies. The result has been lots of consumer complaints alleging misleading practices that result in unwanted calls (from companies other than Powell And Sons). Powell And Sons Complaints
There have been numerous consumer complaints against this website and/or company. These Powell And Sons complaints focus on the website's deceptive practices of pretending to be a real company that provides ALL home improvement services such as gutters, roofing, vinyl siding, windows, basement repairs, etc. From what I can tell, the website asks users to fill out their form and then they sell that information to local home improvement companies.
One of the giveaways that this company isn't real was that when you go to the site, your location comes up in the upper right hand corner. In fact, I've tried this in several states when travelling the country and the location changes wherever you happen to be.
However, nothing changes on the website - which doesn't make sense because a company has a physical location and can only provide services in that area. (Companies like Window World are all over the U.S., but they have branches with unique websites for each metro market that they operate out of.) The bottom line is this - Powell And Sons are logging and collecting your zip code so that they can sell the info to local companies if you fill out the form.
So the big issue for me is that Powell And Sons are claiming to be an actual company. Honestly, if they simply said they were a lead generation site that worked with quality local companies, I would have no issue with this. However, pretending to be a real company is deceptive and not fair to U.S. homeowners.
Legitimate Companies
Unfortunately, there are (at least) two legitimate companies across the United States that include the name Powell, including Powell Windows & Doors out of Tennessee and Powell Windows in Ohio. These two companies have nothing to do with the company in question. The website used by the shell company is found here if you want to take a look - Powell And Sons. It seems to be pretty threadbare in terms of actual content. In particular, I find it odd that they include no actual reviews of their "services."

Fraudulent Site Warning
Dane, needed to drop a line and just raise the red flag against Powell And Sons. We filled out their form for windows, gutters, doors, and decking a while back. We were inundated with random companies four minutes after we filled out the form. However, Powell And Sons was nowhere to be found.
We finally figured out that this was just a faux website that collects data and then sells it. Or this is as close to my assessment as I could get. And I found this to be pretty fraudulent and tried to refer them to the BBB, but they told me there is no actual company with this name so there’s nothing we can do. (There were some companies with names near this, but they seem to be actual remodel companies.)
Anyway, I’ve been going around trying to warn people on Reddit and other forums about Powell and Sons, so if you would please post this, I’d really appreciate it.

Uncomfortable Experience
Last month, I hit upon the Powell And Sons website and ended up filling out the form and then got bombarded with calls from different companies. That was confusing from the start because I was getting random calls for different things like gutters and windows (which I didn't need). I did schedule a couple of the companies to come out and that did not go well either. The gutter replacement guy was pushy and wanted me to sign a work order even after I made it clear I wasn’t interested in signing a work order that day. In fact, I told him from the get go that I was gonna collect a few bids and then make my decision. He left in a hurry after I repeated it like three times.
Plus his price quote was so darn high even after the typical “let me call my manager” routine. On top of that, the materials they pitched me on were unavailable, and I was told they had “acceptable substitutes” instead, but they wouldn't specify what that was, which does not make me feel comfortable. Overall, the experience left me feeling like a needed a shower to wash off the ick.

Vinyl Kraft Or Powell And Sons
Dane, I appreciate all of the info you sent to us. I am also considering Vinyl Kraft out of Southern Ohio. I spoke to a sales rep yesterday. What are your thoughts on them. They seem to be a pretty decent product. For sure better than Comfort View windows in my opinion. Im thinking they maybe on a Simonton level or a little better.
Also, have you heard of Powell And Sons? I tried to get a quote from them and then five minutes later I was getting called from other companies (not Powell and Sons). It was a very weird thing because there is no way it wasn't connected (like when you look something up on your phone and then for the next two weeks you're getting ads for that very thing). Love to hear your two cents :)

Jacob, Vinyl Kraft windows has a decent to good reputation I would say. Worth a bid in my opinion, as long as you also get several others as comparison bids. Yes, better than ComfortView windows in my estimation. And, yes, I would say Vinyl Kraft is on par with Simonton's mid range vinyl windows.
As far as Powell And Sons goes, I believe this website is not for a real company. So I have gone online to check them out and, at least on Reddit forums, they seem to be a lead collection site only that takes in your information and then sells it to local companies who then call and try and get your business.
So, I'd stay away from them - especially if the bids you are receiving are not good quality. However, if you are finding quality local companies through Powell And Sons, then I guess I would say who cares where it comes from. I guess that's my overall take on it.
