Janine, the NT Twinsulator is an excellent aluminum window for the record. The price point looks very fair on the face of it. Of course, I don't know the details of the project, but I would say that this is a great first bid. I'd suggest two more and then let's compare and contrast.

Hi Dane, first let me say thanks for your website. I am looking to replace my 146x96 4 panel sliding glass door. So, I live in Houston, texas and currently have builder grade aluminum sliders. They function well except in the winter. Further, the doors face due north and get no sunlight (the lanai is screened and shades the doors. So, I am considering Renessiance, PGT, Softlite, Jeld-Wen Windows (4500 and wood clad).
Therefore, I’m looking for an opinion from you. Also, I want to purchase a well made durable doo that will last. I don’t need impact windows but want argon. Renaissance (manufacturer) quoted $3680 for their vinyl 9500 series. Lastly,I have a quote from 84 Lumber for PGT 5470 series door totaling $5984 including tax. Thanks in advance.

David, I don't know anything about Renaissance Windows & Doors out of Jacksonville. However, their google local reviews are not very good. If it were me, I wouldn't take the chance. The PGT 5470 is a very good door. Not cheap, but quite good. In general, PGT is a quality company, while Jeld Wen is a bit iffy in my book. They make good doors, but very mediocre vinyl windows. On the other hand, Soft-Lite is an excellent brand and one that I would highly recommend.

Dane, the recent cold weather has convinced me to replace some of the aluminum windows in my home. I am considering Renaissance Windows (3 sized 35 x 70 and a 4 panel sliding glass door) are on the north side of the house and when it's cold they radiate cold air.
