Soundproof Window Costs And Pricing

Replacement soundproof windows prices range from $450 to $3500 fully installed. There are lots of options when it comes to soundproofing your windows and the right solution is typically specific to your existing windows and how much money you are willing to spend to reduce the exterior noises, measured according to STC. Scroll down to see all of our soundproof windows prices and consumer quotes.

One couple of notes here; low quality windows may only be part of a noise problem, especially if homeowners also have poor insulated or constructed walls (walls with low STC). In addition, window inserts can sometimes by added to the existing window for a much lower price point ($75 to $200 per insert) - this is a less aesthetic solution, but the cost savings may be too much to pass up (or at least try).

Entry Level Prices

Entry level replacement soundproof windows should offer a nice bulky frame and a good glass package. The more distance between glass panes is one of the principal ways that sound is deadened by a window.

Price Range: $450 to $900 fully installed

Sample Manufacturers

Serenity Series By Amsco

Indow Acoustic Inserts

Mid Range Prices

Mid range replacement soundproof windows should offer an STC rating of 30 or higher - STC 35 is ideal at this price point. Typically the manufacturer will use a very solid frame and construction, along with panes of glass with slightly different thicknesses to them dampen sound.

Price Range: $900 to $1900 fully installed

Sample Manufacturers

High End Prices

High end replacement soundproof windows should offer an STC rating of 40 or higher - STC 40 is ideal at this price point. These will almost be like two windows in one, which means there is lots of space between the three sets of glass to deaden the noise.

Price Range: $1900 to $2500 fully installed

Sample Manufacturers

Quietline Series By Milgard

Installation Costs

The cost for window installation may be a bit higher for these replacements as the windows themselves tend to be bulkier and may require a few additional steps. This is not always the case and will depend on the exsiting opening size and material.

Price Range: $75 to $350

Noise Attenuating Windows Advice

I stumbled onto your site while googling soundproof windows prices and figured I’d reach out to see if you had any thoughts or guidance. We’re in a northern suburb of Chicago, and when we bought the house in late 2018, the windows were let’s just say “vintage.” Lots of single-pane glass, and one big picture window. In early 2019, we swapped out the bedroom windows for Pella 350 windows, which have been fine overall, though apparently they’re now extinct.

We’re finally circling back to the last few windows, which are two XOX setups: two 24" operable windows on the sides with a 68" picture window in the middle for each. Efficiency is obviously part of the motivation, but noise has become the real villain here. We’re near a freight train (fun!), and thanks to some recent FAA flight-path changes involving O’Hare, we’ve also picked up a steady soundtrack of airplane noise.

I’ve collected a handful of quotes so far, but nothing has really inspired confidence. Home Depot quoted Simonton 6500s (quickly crossed off due to reviews) and Andersen 100s, which are still on the table at around $8K. I also ruled out the Lowe’s Pella 250s—pricey for what felt like a very “meh” product. This week I’m getting a quote from EV Windows and Doors for the Advanced Window 6300 Series (initially around $5K), and I’m digging into sound-reduction upgrade options there. I’ve also poked around Midway Windows, but haven’t pulled the trigger on a quote yet.

All that said, I’d love to hear if you have any recommendations for window brands or installers around Chicago that might be a good fit for these XOX replacements. Also, do you think it would make sense to add something like Soundproof Windows over the existing Pella 350s in the bedrooms to help tame the noise? Any insight you’re willing to share would be most appreciated!

Sally, the Advanced Window 6300 Series is the best of the bunch in terms of what you mentioned. So here's what I'm going to do, which is send you my list of recommended soundproof windows and brands. Additionally, this includes online techniques for quickly finding out if the brand is available in your area and how to contact them etc. Having said that, a well made vinyl window like the Pella 350 series can go a long ways toward reducing your exterior noise level, especially given what you had in there before.

Sound Proofing Packages

I am currently perusing bids for 3 single hungs with sound proofing packages I have got bids for both Anlin Delmar and Milgard Tuscany. Both bid are virtually identical. I’m basing this on the 2 pane system with the inner pane thicker than the outside pane and argon gas fill and ungraded seals. Do you have any knowledge as to whose sound package is better. Thanks.

Kurt, I honestly don't know the answer to which manufacturer's sound package is better. I will say this, the Anlin Del Mar is the superior window to the Milgard Tuscany. I would also think that the Anlin sound package would be superior to the Milgard Tuscany by the simple fact that the window has tighter fit and tolerance. Overall, it's a better put together window so that would certainly be a part of noise reduction. Beyond this, I have to plead the 5th.

Soundproof Window Advise

Hi Dane, my apologies for this belated reply. I've found your website incredibly helpful. My main mission is to find an appropriate "soundproof" window for our home, as well as solid installers. Unfortunately, we're in a relatively small market (Tallahassee, FL) -- which makes finding a local dealer of certain products difficult. Similarly, the smaller market makes it harder to find qualified installers of these speciality windows.

Would you kindly let me know? Thanks in advance!

Jim, we don't do phone consults unfortunately. However, here is my list great windows for your consideration. While not specifically soundproof windows, a well made double pane vinyl window from the list below will do wonders in terms of soundproofing when compared to single pane aluminum windows from the 70s.
