Heartland Windows Cost

Dane, we’ve received a few bids from window companies here in Iowa. My wife and I felt most comfortable working with locally sourced manufacturers (and I agree). Heartland provided us with a quote for their 700 Series windows, which came in at roughly $720 per window (installed price).

At first glance, this seemed like a solid price — especially when compared to the Pella 250 vinyl window, which was quoted at around $780 per window. I was hoping to get your opinion on how these two window series compare to one another. Thanks in advance for your help!

Stephen, the Pella 250 is worth the additional $60 based on the overall quality between these two windows. That said, paying around $700 per window for what is essentially an average vinyl window isn’t exceptional pricing. I’m not suggesting the quote is unreasonable, but there may be stronger options available in that general price range.

Heartland does produce a good window and door, but I believe Pella Windows is the superior vinyl window and brand in generally. Equally important, however, is the quality of the installation. The company performing the work will have a major impact on the long-term performance and durability of your windows, so be sure to thoroughly vet the installer and do your due diligence. Please let me know what you decide to do!

Hampton Series Cost

Hi, I have bids from 7 companies, but have narrowed it down to these 4. I'm in Kansas City and each of the installers or companies has a very good reputation.

Heartland Hampton Series: $397 per window
Andersen 100 Series: $405 per window
Window Source 9000 Series: $464 per window
Wincore 7700 Series Cost: $545 per window

Added Heartland and Pella quotes -- 8 windows: This is for 5 casements at 2x4, 2 casements at 2x6, and a casement picture at 2x6. All way higher than maybe they should be? Our current quotes are:

Apex Insignia Windows Average : 930/win
Heartland Windows Cost - average 650/win
Pella fiberglass - average - 875/win
SoftLite Element average 1000/win (was 775/win, but we didn’t accept while he was onsite - so it went up)

Sunrise Windows - custom model made for Rolex that’s supposed to be better than anything in the Sunrise portfolio - 12 layers of LowE - average 1500/win (1200 without colors).

Bruce, so you've done a lot of work and that's awesome. The best bid by far for me is the SoftLite Element at $775. I would go back to them and say that if they are willing to give you that price, you will sign the work order that day.

Also say you are flexible on a start date. Then wait a week and see if they get back to you. I must say the dealers you've worked with have not been all that nice and upfront. All this "price is good until I step off the property" is not what I expect from a Soft-Lite dealer.

The Pella Impervia windows are crappy in my opinion. The Sunrise is a good window, but that's WAY too much what they quoted you out at. Which window is the Heartland? In general, I'm pretty wary about this window, unless it's their top of the line series.

Hampton Window Quotes

I have received 2 bids thus far, but can't find a lot of info on either one of these windows. The contractor who I know is a fan of the Target Hampton window so I'm leaning towards this option. Any info. is appreciated. I have 12 windows that need to be replaced.

Target Reality 8000 Series: $5280
Heartland Windows Prices Hampton Series: $6240

Bruce, I haven't heard much of either of these windows so I can't comment. I apologize, but there is a reason why you can't find any information on either one of these windows -- they are such small manufacturers that there is virtually no online info. I guess my question would be why are you going to take a chance on unknown brands when there are so many windows that have tried and true track records?

I think the only way I'd recommend going with Heartland or Target is if the contractor can show you the performance data and compare them to a known brand. This would have to include DP, AI, U-factor, SHGC, CR and VT.
