Okna Windows

Okna Windows And Doors is one of the best vinyl window manufacturers and is available in D.C. through several local dealers and distributors. Okna manufactures the 400 Precision Weld, 500 Insul-Tec, 700, 800 EnviroStar, and 900 Starmark composite windows. All of these are considered well made, although the Insul-Tec and 800 Series are the standouts. Consumers can select from one of two "package options", the Energy Option, which includes low-e glass and argon fills, or the Deluxe Option, which as includes foam fills in the frame and a locking screen.

Vytex Windows

Vytex windows are headquartered in Laurel, Maryland and will be available throughout the state, as well as throughout the District Of Columbia. If you really want to see how their windows are made, you can visit the factory, but probably not necessary. Vytex is considered a good quality regional manufacturer, but not necessarily a top manufacturer such as Okna or Soft-Lite. The company manufactures 3 vinyl window models, including the Georgetown, Fortis and the Potomac-hp. The Fortis and Potomac-hp are both very made vinyl windows that have impressive performance numbers. Vytex probably makes a better overall window than Simonton, but should be priced a bit lower - so there can be some nice value there.

Mid-Range Window For Direct Purchase

Good Afternoon Dane, I really enjoyed reading your window review site and I've learned a lot. I was dismayed to see that most of the high quality windows recommended come bundled with installation. I've had some experience in installation and have been looking for the best vinyl double-hung windows that are available to buy for DIY install.

I'm located on the East Coast in the Washington, DC area. Could you please recommend a good mid-range window that may be available for direct purchase in my area? Thank you so much.
