What They SellMathews Brothers manufactures and sells two main window series, which includes the Spencer Walcott vinyl window (the more entry level window) and the Sanford Hills vinyl window (their upgraded option). I have taken a look at both of these rather extensive brochures on the company website, but I wasn't able to really discern how these two window series differed.
Mathews Brothers Windows WarrantyThe company's warranty is a limited lifetime warranty for the lifetime of the original buyer. Specifically, that the windows are free from any manufacturing defects. The company covers any labor costs for the original buyer to either replace or repair the windows due to any manufacturing defects. As always, exclusions do apply (so always read the warranty before purchasing!). The warranty is transferrable, but will only cover the subsequent buyer for 20 years from the date of purchase. The warranty on their doors is 20 years manufacturing defect free. The product warranty on either the Spencer Walcott or Sanford Hills vinyl windows comes from the manufacturers themselves. You can read up on the window warranty using the links in the previous section. All in all, a pretty standard window and door warranty when compared to other manufacturers in the window and door space.

Are Matthews Brothers Windows Any GoodRecently started shopping for replacement windows (16) and slider doors (2). I’ve gotten bids that seem really expensive. I’m having an affordability crisis that I’m beginning to think is not necessary. Matthew’s Brothers quotes us out at $20K while a local Joyce dealer gave us a quote of $17.9K for their high end vinyl window. Which is the better deal in your professional estimation?
Editor ReplyPhyllis, in terms of the windows themselves, I would go with the Joyce windows over the Matthew’s Brothers - for a few reasons. One, the Joyce is the better brand overall. Two, the bid is lower. Three, I’m more familiar with Joyce through all of the windows and reviews that I see from Zen Windows.
Matthews Brothers vs Marvin Fiberglass WindowsI’ve received two replacement window estimates on 4 medium sized windows that are priced exactly the same at $4,000. The first quote is on the Marvin Essential Collection (fiberglass, argon gas fills, custom black frame). Second quote is from Matthews Brothers on the Sanford Hill vinyl windows, (black frame, dual-pane, argon-filled). Basically the same windows except one is fiberglass and the other is vinyl.
Editor ReplyPatti, there's going to be a pretty big difference between these two windows. Fiberglass is typically thought of as the much stronger and durable material (I'm not sure I agree with with statement when it comes to high quality vinyl windows, but it's certainly the case with mid range and cheap vinyl windows). Additionally, fiberglass windows cost are typically 40% more than vinyl so the fact that these two bids are the same tells me that the Matthews Brothers is too high.
Maine Replacement WindowsHello, I've referenced your site quite a bit during my research of new construction windows. I know you typically recommend Okna and SoftLite but any thoughts or feedback on Mathews Brothers? They are a local manufacturer in this area, NH and ME but I haven't heard much about their products. A big seller for mid range vinyl in this area is Harvey – who also makes SoftLite Windows. Thank you.
[Website Editor Reply]Tony, I really don't know anything about Mathews Brothers Windows. I tried to look at online reviews and ratings, but I didn't find all that much -- or I should say that it was unclear if I was getting reviews for the right company. I do like Harvey Windows if the price point is right -- and yes I like Soft-Lite windows. [Email dane@replacementwindowsreviews.co for his recommendations]
[Site Editor's Answer]Hi Dane, thank you for the quick and detailed reply. I really like the Okna windows and had a local company, Morgan Exteriors, provide a quote a couple years ago. I thought it was pretty high at the time. Although I want a new construction window install not a replacement window so I realize that will jack up the total cost.
Rhode Island Replacement Window OptionsHey guys. So we're looking to replace our old Pella wood windows where the sashes are all rotting out). Interested if you have any recommendations for here in Rhode Island on quality vinyl windows.
[Site Editor's Answer]Ellen, here is what I would suggest. Get a bid from Paradigm and from Mathews Brothers - Paradigm Windows is the preferred option here. Personally, I wouldn't look at American Craftsman as they are a poor quality vinyl window. Additionally, I will send you my list of window brands to also consider. Try and get 4 price quotes and then let's circle back and see what you've come up with and go get you the best deal possible. Cheers.
