Window Depot Windows And Doors

The Window Depot is based out of National City, California and has been in business since 2001. This warehouse for windows, doors, and skylights sells directly to consumers, as well as independent contractors, builders, and industry insiders. In addition to selling their own line of replacement windows and doors, they also sell home improvement items such as kitchen cabinets, countertops, sinks, wood window frames, etc. Scroll down to read all of our Window Depot reviews.

Please note: this page refers to the company headquartered in National City, California that has several locations and branches throughout California and Arizona. This page is NOT about Window Depot USA, which is an Ohio based company that has over 80 branches across of the eastern U.S. These are two separate companies that operate in very different parts of the country.

Overall Rating: Window Depot gets a 3.8 out of 5 stars based on 5 consumer reviews below.

My Take On This Company: Window Depot is a great alternative for homeowners looking for a DIY option for replacement windows and doors, as well as independent contractors and builders. However, the overall quality is going to be geared toward more budget projects, as opposed to higher end home improvement jobs.

What They Sell

Window Depot manufactures and sells their own line of vinyl windows and doors. With this line, they target a much more budget minded clientele so the long term quality of their windows is going to be limited. Additionally, Window Depot carries and sells a number of window brands, including Milgard Windows And Doors.

Warranty Information

The Window Depot provides a lifetime warranty on their own line of windows and patio doors that is good for as long as the original buyer owns their home. The warranty is not transferable and protects consumer from any manufacturing defects. However, Window Depot does not cover any labor costs to replace windows. Their product warranty is 10 years on black capstock frames. Additionally, WD offers an accidental glass breakage provision. Not the worst warranty given the warehouse natural of Window Depot.

Window Depot vs Local Company Quotes

Looking to do some DIY on my house in the south bay of San Diego and was comparing price quotes from the three that I got from companies around town and me pricing out windows at Window Depot in National City. Basically I have 10 windows that I'm replacing. So Lowes gave me a quote of $8K on a Reliabilt and an Alpine Windows rep was $7.1K. Then a company quoted me $7.3K on the Alside Fusion.

This compares to $3K for a Milgard Styleline from Window Depot (I believe that was the model name) or the Window Depot line of replacement windows for $2.4K. I have standard sized openings that should fit. But I've also never done a project as this so I'm a little cautious about taking this on myself. Any suggestions?

Patrick, if you don't feel comfortable doing the work yourself, I would advise against it. Why take the risk of screwing it up. However, I would suggest hiring a GOOD local installer who works freelance and primarily puts in windows and doors. You can find them on craigslist etc. This is going to save you the most money while still maintaining a good level of quality on the project itself. But let me put a caveat in here - I would only hire an installer if this is a more "budget" type project.

If this is your primary residence and you want to get beter ROI on new windows when you go to sell it, you might want to consider a window company. I'm not loving the bids you have so far. Check Newman Windows And Doors or BM Windows -- both of these companies have very good reputations in the San Diego area. If those don't work out, I have a few more for you to chase down.

Bottom line: if you find a good local independent installer then I think it makes sense to pull the trigger and save some money. Let me know how it goes!

Is Window Depot Worth It?

Dane, like you instructed, I obtained multiple estimates for windows before making my decision. Although Window Depot initially offered the lowest price at $6,500 for 14 Milgard windows, I ultimately chose not to proceed with them after my multiple calls went unanswered when I had a follow-up question. Instead, I selected BM, which provided stronger warranty coverage, including lifetime protection and free replacements.

I also received estimates for Newman and California Deluxe windows, which were considerably more expensive, but the service was so much better. While their pricing was comparable with BM, the window designs and quality of what they carried were not as appealing to me.

Prior to installation, BM confirmed that the windows being installed were Anlin Catalina windows, which is verified by the labeling. The installation process was seamless, and the finished product looks great. At this point, I would definitely recommend them over Window Depot in National City. Ended up paying $11.7K for the whole project, but they look great and carry a great warranty. I'm happy with our choice.

Deni, I'm not surprised that Newman and BM were better on customer service over Window Depot, which is basically a low cost warehouse. This is one of those trade offs where you either do it yourself or with a handyman and save a bunch of money...or you pay a well reputed company in the area and they (hopefully) make everything work smoothly.

Window Depot vs Window Nation

Quick question, as you suggested, I am getting other quotes. I am looking at Window Nation or Window Depot. I did not see anything on your site about Window Depot.

If I use Window Nation as a quote to compare to Zen Windows, which would you suggest? Window Nation in Kansas City as decent reviews and looks to be a good warranty. However, Zen’s ratings are a 5 star across the board in every aspect and on every forum. That said, would Window Nation be a good competitor to consider or would you suggest someone else? Thank you.

Josh - Homeowner - from 2021

[Site Editor's Answer]

Josh, Window Nation sells a good product and offers solid service. There are times when i feel their prices are too high. I’m really not familiar with Window Depot, so I can’t comment on them either way. I would suggest looking up “window direct reviews” on google and see how their reviews stack up.

I’d get a Window Nation price quote and the Zen dealer in Kansas City to see how they compare. Yes, the Zen seems to get fantastic reviews in that area — its impressive. They sell a Soft-Lite Classic and Pro (the Nirvana and Lotus models respectively) — both of which are quite good vinyl windows. I would prefer the Pro over the Classic, but it also will run you more.

Send me both the bids when you get them and I’m happy to weigh in!

Window Depot National City

Dane, have you heard of Window Depot in National City. Someone said that this is a good place to go for doors and windows, but it seems like just a big building packed with cheap replacement windows. What say you, is this a good place to buy windows?

Kurtis - Homeowner - from 2022

Kurtis, I think it depends on what your overall project price point is. If you are flipping a house, then you're in business. However, if you are looking for quality products that are going to last and provide good return on investment, then I think you ought to get some bids from local window companies.

Window Depot Price Bid

Hi again Dane. I got a second estimate from Window Depot (not Window World). They gave me an estimate of just over $900 for a Provia double hung window. It seemed a lot higher than I was expecting, costing almost as much as that Sunrise "Sunrise" estimate I got last week. Have you ever heard of Provia windows and are they any good? I'm sure you'll say go with Sunrise and I will, but I didn't know if Provia was any good. Thanks

Kurtis - Homeowner - from 2022

[Website Editor Reply]

Kurtis, ProVia makes quite a few windows. Their premium Endure series is better in my opinion than the Sunrise Classic window. ProVia makes a good window and probably the best door on the market. Both excellent brands, so it really depends on the Window Depot ratings/reviews and the ProVia series you were quoted out on.
