Okna Basement Windows Question
I am looking to replace 6 basement windows in my home, which was built in the late 1950’s.
The windows were installed with steel frames securing the windows to the foundation. A reputable
local contractor has suggested the mid-range Okna 500
series vinyl hopper windows.

Glenn, the “mid range” Okna 500 is
an excellent window – a top tier vinyl window to be sure. The price your contractor quoted sounds
quite fair to me given the amount of work entailed.
Basement Windows In New York
Looking into replacing the basement windows of my home. All the companies I was looking
into such as Silverline,
Jewel, American Craftsman you have poor ratings on. I am so confused. I received a quote on
a North East Window by Reliable Remodelers can you tell me if they are good. Thank you

Estie, unfortunately, I do not have any personal knowledge of the work, quality or windows
used by North East Window by Reliable Remodelers. I did look them up and saw that they were in
upstate New York so I'm assuming that's where you live. Both Soft-Lite and Okna
windows should be available in your area and are considered amongst the best in terms of
vinyl windows. I would do a quick search and find out if you can find out who carries these brands
and have them give you a bid for your basement windows. Make sure to check that the actual company
gets good reviews online. Good luck!
