How do these two window giants stack up against one another? Let’s take a closer look at their company information, what they sell,
Window World is headquartered in North Wilkesboro, N.C. And has been in business since 1995. The company claims to be the largest replacement windows&doors company in the country. (I tend to think this is true in terms of the sheer number of replacement vinyl windows&doors they sell. Vinyl accounts for nearly 60% of all replacement windows&doors sold in the U.S. each year). WW has over 200 franchises, mostly located in urban cities and areas. Franchises are independently owned companies that use the same basic windows, use the same marketing materials etc.
The Andersen Corporation is a Wisconsin based company that has been around for over one hundred years. The company has a very good reputation for quality and craftsmanship in their windows&doors. They are best known for their wood-clad windows and doors. They are arguably the best known of all the window companies in the United States.
Window World is a direct-to-consumer installation company. As previously stated, they don’t make any of the windows or doors that they sell. The use tv ads, print marketing, flyers and such to reach out to their customer base. This is nearly identical to Renewal By Andersen, which makes sense, since the two are both structured as franchises. Of course, WW markets vinyl windows that are quite affordable. Renewal sells a much more expensive composite window series.
The Andersen Corporation sells its windows&doors through a nation-wide network of local dealers. They also market in the hundreds of Home Depot stores that dot the landscape. Finally, the sell through builders and contractors who have access to them.
Window World prices are at the lower to mid range of the vinyl window market. While their entry level windows are low quality in my opinion, their 6000 series is a solid mid range vinyl offering.
Anderson Windows Cost are toward the top of the wood window price range. Their composite series, however, is sold at many of the big box stores, specifically Home Depot. The price point on this model is more like in the middle of the pack for composites.
