My Take On This Company: Definitely worth a price quote to see what you would pay for a ProVia Endure patio door and/or window.

Brands And Options

NOVA Exteriors offers their customers quality products and brands. In terms of windows and doors, the company carries ProVia, which I think is an excellent brand. Additionally, the company used to carry Sunrise windows, but I'm not sure this is any longer the case (it isn't listed on the site and Sunrise is now made by MI Windows & Doors). Also, in terms of siding, NOVA carries the Alside Ascend, Mastic, and James Hardie fiber cement siding. Finally, in terms of roofing, NOVA carries CertainTeed products, which are quality options as far as I am concerned.

NOVA Exteriors Warranty

On their windows and doors, Nova offers the labor warranty that lasts for a lifetime for the original buyer. However, it is non transferrable to a subsequent owner. The manufacturing portion of the warranty comes from the manufacturer itself. The company offers the same basic warranty on their siding projects. That is, lifetime on the labor for the original owner and non transferrable.

NOVA Windows Reviews

Hi Dane, thought I'd check back in with you as I received a few more quotes. Looks like I'll be paying minimum of $4,500 for replacement of 10 windows. This is for a rental condo that I have in Arlington, VA. Just looking for something that'll be serviceable and that will last, nothing fancy, and that's economical. My current choices include:

Kensington Kingston at $450/window by Nova Installations -- company seems to have very mixed reviews though they were recommended by my realtor who'd personally used them.
Alside Fusion at $370/window by Thermal Specialities & Installation Co. -- they have 90+ ratings on Angies list, which seem very good.

Sunrise Essentials at $550/window by Nova Exteriors--very good Angies list ratings.

Simonton 5050 (or was it 5500) for $400/window Riba Construction LLC, BUT the company offering this deal has only 4 reviews online that I can find (all good, but that's very few reviews)

Given the above--what would be your top three choices, in order of priority? Again--thanks SO much for your advice.

Hugh, let's see, you've got a weird mix of bids. I like the Kensington Kingston at that price, but the installer sounds sketchy. I don't like the Alside Fusion, but love the installer reviews. Maybe you can see if they would sell you a better window. The Alside Fusion should be their "drop down" window, but who knows.

The Sunrise Essentials is an okay window -- anything else from Sunrise is quite good. $550 for the Sunrise entry level window strikes me as high. If you could get their Sunrise Standard or Classic for $650 I'd say that's worth it (or at any price lower). Sounds like they are good installers.

The Simonton 5050 is just okay, but the Simonton 5500 is a nice window. If you could get the Simonton 5500 for $500, that would be a good price. Installer sounds sketchy as well. The search continues, I guess.

[Hugh's Reply]

Well, the strange mix is partly due to trying to find inexpensive but decent quality vinyl windows and a contractor who doesn't charge an arm an a leg. In looking further, the Kingston installer had 131 reviews on Angie, of which 115 were A's. The remainder probably pulled down the overall as there were 6 F's in there. Looks like they sub out their work so I'll try to ensure they use a contractor that has been reviewed.

Thanks again, Dane! Enjoy the weekend.
