Bow Windows

Bow windows are a rather complex replacement project that can be both stunning and quite expensive. In terms of their window replacement cost, bows and bay windows are at the very top of the price spectrum and with good reason. They are not simply one window, they are a set that are placed in a rather large opening that oftentimes must be altered to both fit the windows and to support the additional weight that is being added to the wall.

Bow Windows Basics

Bow windows are a series of 3, 4, 5 or more windows that are mulled or framed together along an arc or a bow shape. The bow adds some additional square footage to the home because it almost always bows away from the home. Bows are quite similar to bay windows, although bays often add a bit more sqaure footage and the windows typically sit at more of an angle to one another (45, 60 or 90 degree angles are the most common). Bows offer excellent views of the outside because there is often lots of glass and relatively little frame between the actual windows.

Bow Window Costs

Bow windows prices range from $1,200 to $5,000 for all the product, materials and the cost of installation. Bow can be even more expensive than bay windows because bows can be custom and involve quite a number of actual windows, up to 6 or 8 windows, which obviously increases the overal cost.
