The Vinyl Kraft Legacy is the company's entry level vinyl window and comes standard with a 3/4 inch glass, and double pane glazing. Consumers can expect a U-factor: .30 and an SHGC: .29. All in all, a pretty mediocre vinyl window.

Our contractor quoted us $575 each and this included installation on the Legacy Series window - mostly double hungs. Trustguard was $675 each. He quoted us $1320 on their aluminum windows.

Tom, those seem like pretty fair prices to me. I would always go get some more bids to make sure that the price is fair compared to other local companies, but on the whole I would say that's fair.

Hi. We are replacing 30 yr old double pane windows with vinyl. We are getting ready to sell our house and just want to replace 10 double hung and one XL picture window in Kitchen. Without grids, half screen, foam wrapped frames, low E Glass with argon gas, ,cover existing trim with alum. PVC coil, caulk repair rotted wood if needed. The quote we have is from a local contractor using “ Vinyl Kraft Legacy Series” white, double pane. Lifetime transferable warranty.

Pam, while I wouldn't say that the Vinyl Kraft Legacy Series is a great window, it is a decent mid range vinyl window. I think if this bid includes all of the additional work required, then this is a very fair bid. For instance, covering trim alone can run $75 per window. So, yes, on the face of it, this seems like a fair deal. If you can, get a written invoice from the installer for the windows and make sure to write down his contact information for the new owners in case they need it years later. It will be good karma that hopefully will come back to you in the future. :)

I got a quote from Vinyl Kraft, a family-owned company out of New Boston Ohio. I have 24 windows and the bid is for $10K for their TrustGuard series and $8K for their Legacy series. This price includes all of the installation costs.

Hi Dane, I was reading the info on your website and wanted to reach out.
We're getting 14 double hung windows replaced, looking for cheaper options with a quality installation. Zip code 23456.
Right now we're at $4700 for VinylKraft windows from a new local company (they say the warranty is through the manufacturer).
And at $5900 for Silverline V3 windows from an established company.
We also had quotes for Pella at $12k and Simonton 5050 at $9800.
This will be mostly a rental home.
Based on what you've said about Silverline I'm a little iffy on getting them, and not sure about VinylKraft either since the installer company is brand new.
How would you go about deciding what is best for the budget. Do these prices sound like a fair deal?

Arthur, it is tricky recommending a window for a rental home. You want a low cost, but that comes with all sorts of potential problems. The Vinyl Kraft Trust Guard is a good budget / entry level window. So too is the Reliabilt 3900.
The Vinyl Kraft price is low enough that you could take a chance, but man, it feels like it could back fire as well. In say 80% of the cases, you will be fine with an entry level window that is installed properly. You might get 15 years out of them and have to replace.
You could also check to see if an Ideal Windows rep services your zip. They offer a good window at a fair price. Also see if there is an Okna rep who carries the 400 series. This is a good window as well.

SHGC: .26, Air Infiltration: .17, and U-value: .30. The triple pane slider is $1600 completely installed.
