Okna 500 Insul-Tec

The Okna 500 Series is used as a replacement window, but sometimes is seen in new construction as well, with a nailing fin or a flange and J-channel. The efficiency numbers are a little better than the Okna 400 window, with a U-value of 0.25, AI 0.02, SHGC 0.28, and DP50. In addition, it has some upgraded features. The sill wall is improved and it comes with a Duralite spacer. It is a good value for a mid-grade price.

Sunrise Window

The Standard Sunrise Series is definitely an upgrade from their Essentials model. It uses a nicer vinyl extrusion that is the frame that Sunrise uses for all of it's high end model, just without the upgrades and add ons. For instance, the standard or classic Sunrise window doesn't use come with a fiberglass sash reinforcement or separate tilt lock buttons that come standard on the Verde or Restoration model.

Milgard Tuscany

The Milgard Tuscany Series will run about 10% higher than their Styline model and offers better efficiency ratings and a thicker frame. The classic look is popular and fits many home styles. Upgrades include an upgraded lock, vent stops, a wider spacer and higher quality screen. If you add on the 3D Max glass package it becomes a real competitor with the Simonton 7300 window or the standard Champion model. The lifetime warranty includes glass breakage. The U-value is 0.29 and the SHGC is 0.21. It isn't a top-shelf window that grabs the attention, but it's a solid performer that looks good and really lasts.

Amerimax Craftsman Portrait

The Amerimax Craftsman Portrait Series is the mid range option and a step up from the Maters Grande series. It offers more robust weatherstripping and a better spacer between the window glass. Like the Masters Grande window, it offers even sightlines and comes with a 20 year warranty on parts and labor. Performance wise, expect a u-value 0.28, SHGC 0.29.

Simonton Reflections 5500 Windows

The Simonton Reflections 5500 Series is one of best selling Simonton windows and for good reason. The frame is thicker than some of their other collections, but the energy efficiency numbers are significantly better. A 1" super spacer is standard and the 5500 model includes double strength glass. Performance numbers with double pane glass should come in as follows: AI of 0.07, U-Factor of 0.31 and a SHGC of 0.26. Not the greatest U-factor number, but we like the air infiltration number of .07.
