Vinyl Window Designs is a Toronto, Ontario based window and patio door manufacturer that has been around since 1998. The company makes replacement and new construction windows, entry doors, and patio doors. My Take On This Company: Honestly, Canadian companies do have a good track record for quality windows and doors. From what I can tell, the same can be said of Vinyl Window Designs. However, I still don't know about them to give an emphatic thumbs up or down. Also, they probably have limited distribution in the U.S., so finding a local rep might pose a challenge. What They Sell

Vinyl Window Designs sells two window series, which include the Ultra and Premium series. Honestly, I find the naming a bit overly complicated (see below), but I suppose that can be said for companies like Simonton and Atrium Windows And Doors. Regardless, here is a list of what they sell in both the Ultra (entry level) and Premium (upgraded) window series.

The Ultra is available in the following options: 800M casement, 800TS casement, 850M awning, 850TS awning, 830 double tilt slider, and the 820 double hung.

The Premium is available in the following options: 800M casement, 100P3 casement, 150P3 awning, 210CS/210VS double hung, 300HS/300BMJ double tilt slider, 365 double lift out slider, 201VS / 201BMJ single hung, 301VS/301BMJ single tilt slider, 303VS/303VSEV single ligt out slider.

Vinyl Window Designs Warranty

The company very transparent about their warranty terms and provisions, so it's easy to find it on their website (refreshing). VWD provides a limited lifetime warranty on their windows against material and workmanship defects. Additionally, the warranty is lifetime on the vinyl frame, insulated glass unit, and on all hardware. Finally, internal blinds and Ultra screen carry a 10 year warranty period.

Finally, replacement window and door warranties are always changing, so do make sure to read the warranty terms on the particular product prior to purchase.

Upstate New York Replacement Windows

Hi Dane, love to get ahold of your best windows list. My brother in law is replacing all of his windows in upstate NY (actually it's only 7). He's come down to three but has hit a roadblock in terms of what to choose. It's between the Vinyl Window Designs 210cs/210 double hung, ProVia Aspect double hung, or the Andersen 100 fibrex window from Victory Home Remodeling. Any opinions between these three contenders?

Steven, I will send over the list asap. So, between the three, my pick would have to be the ProVia Aspect. Also, I have heard good things about Vinyl Window Designs, but don't quite know enough yet - so I might punt on this one. From what I can see online, it's a solid unit. Finally, the Andersen 100 is good, but is also probably the weakest of the bunch.
