Wonder Windows is a Rochester and Buffalo based installation company that has been in business since 1963. The company specializes in installing replacement windows, as well as entry doors and patio doors.
Are Wonder Windows Any Good: The company uses several brands of windows, including Okna, which is a very well regarded brand as far as I'm concerned. The two other brands they rep are Sierra Pacific and Oknoplast, which I have heard of, but know very little about.
Oknoplast is a European window brand that is looking to break into the U.S. market - I've now seen a few companies in the U.S. that sell Oknoplast - all on the east coast. Oknoplast makes both vinyl vs aluminum windows. The brand looks to be promising, which is exciting, but I'm going to reserve judgement until I know more.

"Our quote from Wonder Windows seems like a bridge too far in terms of cost. Thoughts? Okna 600 vinyl window at $1,100 each and this is for pocket installation, which is the cheapest way to replace windows according to the estimator. We received one other bid from a local Polaris rep on their ThermalWeld Select window for $975 per window. Which of these bids is better do you think? Is the 600 series that much superior? Both companies have excellent installation and customer service reviews."

Hillary, no the Polaris ThermalWeld Select is equal in build quality to the 600 series. While I prefer the 600 series overall, I think the better value proposition here leans towards the Polaris bid. The fact that the two companies are equal to one another in terms of reputation leads me to believe that the Polaris decision is the right one.

"Wonder replaced our 20 plus double hung windows maybe 5 years ago. I promised I would let you know how they turned out and I am just getting around to it now. How time flys! In a word, they were great from start to finish. We bought the Okna 1800 triple pane option and they have been perfect (I should say we haven't had an issues once they were put it). Like I mentioned, our house backs up to a busy street and the windows have help tremendously with the noise, which is pretty constant.
I would say it was a worthwhile investment to be sure.
If I'm being nit picky, I felt like the windows were not cheap (I want to say we paid $1130 a piece, but it was triple pane). The other little thing was they one mis-measured one of the windows on the side and that had to be reordered and installed at a later date. They were prompt about following up though and took care of a couple questions and adjustments we wanted. All in all a very good experience."
