Overall Rating: Your Home Improvement Company gets a 3.9 out of 5 stars based on 3 consumer review below.

My Take On This Company: On the plus side, Your Home Improvement Company sells Champion windows, which I quite like. On the minus side, the company has something of a reputation for hiring pushy sales people who are motivated by sales over customer satisfaction. I'm hoping this is only certain individuals, but I have yet to confirm. I will certain update once I've collected more reviews.

YHIC Window Locations

Your Home Improvement Company is concentrated in the northeast and midwest states (but do have the odd branch in southern states such as Georgia). The company has branches in the larger metro markets in the following states: Wyoming, Washington, Utah, North and South Dakota, Iowa, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, Georgia, and Colorado.

What They Sell And Install

Your Home Improvement Company sells and installs Champion Windows. And while not a true top tier window series, the Champion vinyl window is nonetheless quite a good vinyl window that should serve many, if not most, U.S. households well. A very solid second tier vinyl window option. So the reason that YHIC sells this brand is because their parent company, Great Day Improvements, also owns Champion Windows - basically a case of vertical integration (or maybe horizontal - I never could get the distinction between these two).

Your Home Improvement Company Warranty

The company provides very little information (online at least) on their warranty terms. This is what I was able to gleam. During the "warranty period" (which is unclear to me and is probably based on the home improvement service that you get), you are protected against material and labor defects. The warranty timeline begins on the installation date. Furthermore, the company reserves the right to deny any claim where the provisions of the warranty are either fraudulent or have been abused.

All in all, this provides us with very little substantive information to go on. If, and when, I get more details I will post them here. Please reach out if you have more to share. Compare this to other replacement windows warranties from other national brands and options.

YHIC vs Zen

Dane, I would like your list of replacement windows if you can manage it. My wife and I live in I am currently looking at ZEN for replacement windows out of Portland. They are recommending the ProVia Aspect. I can't find much information on them. We also got a bid from Your Home Improvement Company and they sell the Champion. The Zen is the frontrunner as they get better reviews from what I can tell - it's hard knowing if the reviews are real or made up though so that's tricky.

Anyway, love to see the list and get your opinion on the two companies/windows that we're considering so far. Thanks in advance!

Larry, my call would be the Zen windows and the ProVia Aspect window. While I like Champion windows and doors, the ProVia brand is the better call in my estimation. Also, I did a basic search on the company and they seem to generate excellent reviews. And, yes, reviews can be made up but I think if you offer a bad service, there will still be consumers who will write a bad review. So I think it evens out over time. Also, happy to send you my list and please let me know how it goes and if you have any issues!

Your Home Improvement Company Complaints

My husband and I received a quote from Your Home Improvement Company for a bathroom remodel. During the whole consult or initial bid (I don't know what you call it), the rep kept asking about other bids like he was waiting for us to say a number so he could go just below it. While I don't have an issue with this, it did strike me as a bit odd.

Also, we got the sense that he didn't know all that much about bathroom remodels - that he was just there to make the sale and then his part was done. It reminded me of Apex Energy who were in our neighborhood a few years back and they roamed around trying to get everyone to replace their windows (a number of us spoke after and we all had the same experience with them).

Needless to say, we ended up going with a well known contractor who charged about the same price, but at least his pricing made sense to use (his cost plus 25%, which sounded fair to me).

Jeremy, I have heard that same story from a number of other homeowners in regards to Your Home Improvement Company. So I get the sense that these large companies hire sales people who are motivated to get sales, but might not have a background in the home improvement industry. This does make accurate pricing much for difficult when compared to say a contractor who knows what his costs are for each past of a project.

There's a reason why it reminded you of Apex -- YHIC and Apex are both owned by the same parent company so their approaches a relatively similar.

Your Home Improvement Company Reviews

I've gotten quotes from YHIC offering Champion window, Provia and Window World and tried to keep things the same between all three in terms of features. Champion and Provia are more expensive than Window World, but comparable.

[Site Editor's Answer]

Ross, here is my list of good and great windows for you to take a look at. To your question, between the three options you have so far, my picks would be ProVia windows, Champion and then Window world, in that order. As a general rule, Provia and Champion are much better than the Window World.
