Anlin Windows vs Andersen Windows

How do Anlin Windows vs Andersen Windows stack up? Let's compare and contrast these two fairly well known brands.

Anlin and Andersen don't share much in common. Anlin is a smaller player in the vinyl window and door space, while Andersen is a big name in the wood clad and composite window space. One thing they do share is a very good reputation in the industry.

Company Information

Anlin Windows & Doors is a California based manufacturer that has been in business since 1990. The company enjoys a very good reputation for quality and craftsmanship and are often regarded as one of the best vinyl windows and door manufacturers on the west coast. In 2021, the company sold to PGT Innovations - a trend that is happening more and more in the industry. Thankfully, the quality of Anlin's products has remained constant.

Andersen Windows & Doors is a Minnesota based manufacturer that has been in business since 1903 (although they started in neighboring Wisconsin). Like Anlin, Andersen enjoys a very good reputation for quality and craftsmanship and are often regarded as one of the best wood windows and door manufacturers in the country. The company is owned by the Andersen corporation, which also owns Renewal By Andersen. Click to check out our Renewal By Andersen reviews.

What They Sell

Anlin Series: Anlin sells a number of different vinyl windows and doors. Their premium series, also their best known is the Del Mar. Then they carry their drop down options in the Catalina, Coronado, and Panoramic. Their patio slider door is called the Malibu series. All of these are well made series. Then Anlin makes a bunch of independently marketed series that really don't bear the name Anlin and are sold through specific dealers. This is the Mar Vista and the Monte Verde - both of which are decent, but less expensive options than their regular models. Finally, the company offers the Ali'i Extreme in Hawaii - also a very good vinyl window and door.

Andersen Series: Andersen sells fewer and different windows and doors than Anlin. They sell the 100 composite series, which is by far their less expensive option. Then they sell three wood clad options (from least expensive to most expensive): the 200 Series, the 400 Series, and the Architectural Series. All of these can be ordered as windows or doors and all are considered very good quality options.

How They Market

Anlin Marketing: In a word, pretty simple compared to Andersen. They use local window companies across the western half of the United States to sell their products directly to consumers. That's pretty much it - and this is pretty typical for a company of their size.

Andersen Marketing: Theirs is much more robust compared to Anlin. They do use local window companies across the United States to sell their products directly to consumers. They also sell through the big box stores, and they sell directly to larger developers and contractors, who also use their products. Then they have their franchised business Renewal, which is a direct-to-consumer company. Check out Renewal By Andersen prices here.

Cost Comparisons

Anlin Pricing: Anlin costs are going to be fairly high when compared with other vinyl window manufacturers. Often, the price is justified. Sometimes I find the price point for some dealers to be way too high. Send us your bids and we are happy to take a look for you and give you our two cents.

Andersen Pricing: Andersen costs are going to be high when compared with other wood clad window manufacturers. Often, the price is justified based on the brand and craftsmanship. Not always the case though. I think the Andersen 100 series is often times well prices. I think the Renewal price point is often way too high for the overall quality of the product.

Anderson 100 Windows Cost

Hello Dane, we're looking at a 4 window plus a slider. Anlin with a local company Vs Home Depot Anderson 100. I'm sending both quotes. The Andersen doesn't include a 12" x 42" window that the Anlin does. Thanks for your time and consideration. Check out our Andersen window guarantee for more warranty information.

Anlin ( $8912 with out little window $10,600 with cash price)
Home Depot Andersen 100 ($11,853 without little window)

[Site Editor's Answer]

Rick, the Anlin is the better window (regardless of the series, which you didn't mention). I like the Andersen 100, but it doesn't quite match up with Anlin's line up. Plus, I find Home Depot's installation quality to be a bit of a wildcard, while (most) Anlin dealers are pretty high quality. Plus, the anlin is cheaper. Three reasons why the Anlin is the winner in this match up!
