Replacement Windows Reviews

American Vision Windows And Doors 2026

American Vision Windows is a Southern California based local installation company (not a manufacturer) that offers its customer vinyl replacement windows and doors. Known for carrying an impressive line of brands, the company is also quite expensive compared to other installation companies in the area. In this review, we break down who this company is, their locations, and what brands they install, and provide actual homeowner questions on pricing, quality, customer service, and more.

American Vision is a Southern California based company that has been in business since 1999. The company sells and installs several quality brands, which includes Anlin, Simonton, and Milgard windows and doors. While American Vision prices can be more than I'd like to see, the company generates very good reviews when it comes to quality installation.

Overall Rating: American Vision earns a 4.4 out of 5 stars based on 18 consumer reviews below.

My Take On This Company: I think for Southern California based homeowners, American Vision is certainly worth a project cost quote (Anlin is one of my favorite west coast brands). Just make sure you get a few bids as American Vision bids tend toward that higher end of what I consider fair market pricing.

American Vision Warranty Information

AV offers a double lifetime labor warranty, which is the best I’ve seen in the industry. This means that the original owner and one subsequent owner are protected against any installation errors and manufacturing defects. If either one of these occurs, the company will inspect the windows or patio doors (and if they deem this their responsibility), the company will either repair or replace the products free of charge. This includes the cost of labor required for the job

Product warranties will depend on the manufacturer themselves. See our replacement warranty page for more details.

How Big A Deal Are Spacers

You have a great site! It has been very helpful to me. I am deciding between two companies: one that uses several different vendors and one that uses Simonton Daylight Max. Both have been highly recommended to me by neighbors and have great reviews on online sites for installation and long-term service. If I use the first company, I would get the Amerimax Craftsman Portrait series.

Right now the company is getting the best deals from Anlin and Amerimax; the Amerimax looks more attractive to me, and they say it is a better product that they can sell now for even less than Anlin. What is confusing me most is that each company has said the opposite about the seals/spacers, which is one of the main differences between the Amerimax and Simonton.

Company A is BM (who I would get the Amerimax Windows from) says a rubber spacer is much better that the seal has a lower failure rate, fogs less, and is much quieter. Company B American Vision (Simonton) says rubber spacers are bad and were invented only after the rebates were offered by the Obama Administration; because the Simonton Daylight Max has less vinyl than the Amerimax or other frames, he said, they didn't need to replace the stainless steel spacer with rubber in order to get their performance rating to the necessary level.

He said the rubber spacers are junky and iffy, and that the metal spacers have proven to work over twenty years. He said rubber is only good when you need a curved window that needs a flexible spacer. He argued also that the small difference in performance level between Simonton-with-metal and anything else with rubber is very small and nothing compared to the difference going from single to double pane windows, so not worth worrying out.

The other supposed selling point of the Simonton Daylight Max is the thinner frame. But in looking at neighbors' windows, I think that would only make a difference in terms of light-in-the-house in a very narrow window. Otherwise, on a three foot wide or six foot wide window, I'm not sure if the difference is negligible or really matters. I am in Southern California. I would like some advice on these two issues. Thanks so much!!

Anna - Homeowner - from 2026

[Site Editor's Response]

Anna, I wouldn't get too hung up on the different spacers, or I wouldn't make this the deciding factor when you are trying to decide who to go with. Most industry people will tell you that a non metallic spacer is going to offer better performance, although there are a number of factors, such as what material the core is made out of.

I think it's fair to say that the Amerimax Craftsman Portrait is a better window than the Simonton Daylight Max. The Daylight Max does have a thinner frame, although off hand I don't know how it compares with the Amerimax frame. I would go with the Anlin/Amerimax over the Simonton, but I would be sure to include that Simonton does make some higher end vinyl windows that are quite good, better than the Daylight Max.

American Vision Windows Reviews

Hey Mr. Dane I have a bid from American Vision on the Anlin Panoramic series. 10 windows that come to $14.8K and one patio door that comes to $3876.

A 71 by 58 double hung is $1334 just for the window itself as an example. Then they are charging $300 each for the window installation cost. Is this about right?

Leana - Homeowner - from 2023

[Site Editor's Answer]

Leana, AV is never cheap in my experience. I'm assuming it's full frame installation at $300 per window. So, yes, I think this is high. I definitely think more bids are called for in order to see what else is out there price wise.

Southern California Window Bid

Hi Dane, could you please let me know if the estimated price I got from America Vision is reasonable or too high in SoCal region? One sliding glass door using a standard Anlin Malibu door. All inclusive $5590. Thank you!

Naveen - Homeowner - from 2023

[Site Editor's Answer]

Naveen, that seems quite expensive to me. I’d collect some more bids on the sliding glass door to see if you can find a more reasonable bid…here is my list of additional options.

American Vision vs Renewal by Anderson

I have received quotes from American Vision on the Anlin Del Mar and Renewal by Anderson window cost quotes which was 3x as much as American Vision. I really need help in choosing the correct windows I will research the company and windows you provided. We are in California so it’s not extremely cold or hot most days.

Anlin Quote from American Vision

Wooooooow Dane!!! I was so overwhelmed these days with this so I was hiding under the table thinking or selling back the house or just painting the existing windows from year 2000 black and just live with them but you just got me fired up to continue this journey. Thank you!!!

I have gotten Anlin quote from American Vision and waiting for one called Bear Window

Will get all the others you mention and it would be so nice of you if you would have a look at them.

Thank you so much again for your American Vision Windows Reviews and pricing, you just got me rewired.

Hanne - Homeowner - from 2022

[Website Editor Reply]

Hanne, I would consider getting another bid on Anlin from someone other than American Vision -- assuming there are more local dealers -- you should be able to search on the Anlin website and see. American Vision tends to be quite expensive and you might find another bid on the exact same window at a lower price. Shopping for windows sucks...but you want to get it done right and never have to deal with it again! Replacement Window Costs

AVW Price Quote

Hi Tim, I'm attaching a quote a got to replace 8 Windows. I hope you can read it. The quote is $7,400 from AVW and includes free installation and they cover the taxes. Is this a fair price?

Thank you.

Sandra - Homeowner - from 2021

[Site Editor's Answer]

Sandra, that bid sounds pretty darn high to me. I would collect a few more myself, perhaps an Amerimax, Milgard, and/or Simonton bid, to see how they stack up to the American Vision bid.

American Vision Patio Doors

Good morning Dane. We had AVW replace our windows in our home last January. It was a total of $40,000.00 for the job which included three doors.

As of today, May 19, 2021, American Windows has failed to provide a key for the glass doors. Does Anlin not provide locks and keys for their glass doors?

How long should it take to get a new lock with a proper key????? Thank you very much for your answer.

Cynthia - Homeowner - from 2021

[Site Editor's Answer]

Cynthia, they should have given you two keys to the patio door. What did they say when you called and asked for it? Should be a pretty standard procedure.

Dane - Site Editor - from 2021

[Cynthia's Reply]

Dane, thank you for getting back to me.

American Vision told me that each door with a key, has a different key! In other words, the cylinders for each and every door is different even though the doors are all for one house! They wanted me to have a locksmith out and I would have to pay for it in addition to the $40,000 worth of doors & windows on my home!

They also said one of the patio doors was defective in that it came from the factory that way (actually missing a metal rod that goes the length of the door for the lock) so they couldn't give me a key at all.

My job was started last January Dane, and they blame it all on your end, saying the factory doesn't give them the parts. The kitchen window over my sink isn't even installed square and they told me not to look at it!

The frame on two sliders is visibly bowed as well. I'm absolutely frustrated and fed up with AVW, needless to say. Thank you for your time and help in this matter.

American Vision Windows Reviews

American Vision gave me a bid on the Anlin Del Mar and the Mar Vista. The rep said that the Mar Vista was made for American Vision, while the Del Mar was their "luxury" series. The Mar Vista is more of an entry level type product.

I didn't care for the Mar Vista uneven site lines. The Del Mar had nice even nightlines that were much nicer to the eye. I really liked the Del Mar, but wasn't loving American Visions. I thought they were just too sales oriented and I didn't feel like going with them because of it.

Ted - Homeowner - from 2018

[Website Editor Reply]

Ted, if you didn't like American Visions, there are some good options in San Diego (not as much from the window perspective as from the company installer perspective.)

I'd recommend BM and Newman. Both of them have good reputations in the city and both sell quality products from what I can tell. Between the two of them, hopefully one of them has something that fits your eye and your checkbook.

Mar Vista Quote From AVW

Hi Tim. Thanks for your website, its been very helpful. I had a question regarding two quotes I've recently received for 10 windows and one sliding door.

Company A submitted a quote for $9500 using the Milgard Tuscany Series

Company B submitted $11000 for the Anlin Mar Vista series.

I am not familiar with the mar vista series and can't seem to find much online about them. Seems like they are exlusive to AVW.

What do you think is the better window? I liked company B better as an installer, but I am worried that the window is inferior to the milliard.

Thanks for your help with this!

Marc - Homeowner - from 2018

[Website Editor Reply]

Marc, you are correct that Mar Vista is the Anlin window that American Vision sells. The Anlin Del Mar is their premium window, while the Mar Vista is a more entry level type window.

I would say that it's a bit better than the Milgard Tuscany, but not by much. I think I would probably go with the Tuscany for $1.5K less myself, unless American Vision can provide you with the specific performance data of the Mar Vista, including DP, air infiltration, U-value, and SHGC. I would be interested to see those numbers and then I could probably make a better apples-to-apples comparison.

American Vision Windows Southern California

I am using AVW to replace a sliding glass door in my kitchen. On your site I saw all kinds Anlin windows discussed and your American Vision windows reviews but saw no reference to Anlin "Malibu" style . Can you tell me about that style. Also paying $2284 for a 79 by 70 slider. Is that fair? Thanks.

Susan - Homeowner - from 2017

[Site Editor's Answer]

Susan, the Anlin Malibu patio slider is a good product. As is often the case, the quality of a company's vinyl windows is commiserate with the quality of their patio doors. This isn't always the case, for instance, Jeld Wen makes an excellent vinyl door, but only mediocre vinyl series. Anlin makes a good quality vinyl window and good quality patio door. For the product details, just google Anlin Malibu Patio Door and click on their link. It lists the configuration, hardware options, rail styles, frame and color options, glass packages, performance data, etc. The rep from American Vision should have a nice glossy brochure on the Malibu door to give you at the very least. Jeld Wen Windows Reviews

In terms of price, that sounds in the ballpark, but towards the higher end of what I'd expect. AVW isn't the cheapest dealer out there, but I've heard they do a good job. If you want find the best price, I'd get a bid from Jeld Wen and Milgard for comparison. The Milgard Tuscany sliding door might be cheaper and is the same overall quality as the Malibu. If you like the Malibu better, use the Tuscany quote to see if American Vision Windows will come down off their price.

American Vision Windows Prices

I think our American Vision Rep is trying to take us for a ride. Anlin -- 13 windows 3 sliders (2k ea.) and 2 traps (1500 & 1150). Total mat. 17k. small Bath 21X23 $595. 46x 56= $680. Plus $145 labor each + Tax + Construction $24k Then he gave discounts down to 19k. for memorial day sale.

Keith - Homeowner - from 2016

[Site Editor's Response]

Keith, I would agree that that bid sounds very high. In the window industry, the companies can bid your project out any way they see fit. Get more bids. Try Simonton Windows (Impressions and Reflections Series), Amerimax, Milgard - all of these companies will have reps in your area. Let each company know you are taking 3 to 4 bids and are going with the most competitive bid and best company - tell them to give you their most competitive bid.

Anlin Window Price Bids

I knew I wanted Anlin windows, but I was having trouble finding an installer. The first person I turned to gave me a ridiculous price, so I called Anlin and asked what installer they recommend. They told me to call American Vision, and the quote I got when I called them was less than half of what the first guy wanted. The installation was fast and easy.

They installed them the day they were delivered. The only problem I had was that they forgot the deadbolts I'd asked for, and I had to call a 2nd time to get them to come put them in. When they did come out, they were really nice and apologetic about it so I wasn't mad. I think they also install Milgard windows, but I know that they did a good job on my Anlins. Silding Glass Doors Installed

In the summer of 2008 we had Anlin sliding glass doors put in by American Vision. The doors are awesome and they did a great job putting them in. I'm planning on doing the rest of the hosue soon. They look good and keep the heat out. When I had a minor problem with the latch, they sent me a replacement part right away, and said they'd come fix it if I couldn't. The doors and the service are both great and I recommend them to anyone.

American Vision Windows Complaints

I had a ton of problems with American Vision and I don't think anyone should deal with them ever. They are unprofessional and they don't keep promises and they are expensive and slow. I ordered 4 weeks ago and I paid with a credit card up front, my first mistake. The sales guy said 2-3 weeks and they would all be here and installed. Week 3 came, and we got a call saying that they can't do the bay we wanted, but can do garden windows instead.

I agreed, they would be be installed in week 4. I was annoyed but ok. Then I never heard from them and nothing came so I called at the end of week 4 and they said they can't send a crew because they don't have any of my windows. They said they'd call me in two weeks! They aren't even picking up the phone when I call them now!

Installation Just OK

Not long ago I had American Vision put in Anlins - 17 windows and 2 sliding doors. The Anlins are great, and the installation went ok at first, but we had a few problems. They could have just been minor annoyances, but it's been 10 weeks now and we still can't get them to even come fix it. It was over 5 weeks before they'd come look, and then all they said was they'd have to schedule another appointment to come fix them. As much money as I spent on those people, they couldn't get the stupid things fixed. I like the windows, but I'd go with a different installer. Your American Vision Windows have really helped out my family so thank you.

Customer Recommendation

We just had American Vision put in our new Anlins. I see that some people are complaining about the cost, but they were much less expensive than some companies, and they did an amazing job. I would recommend them to anyone, they were very nice and did a great job.
