California Deluxe Windows Reviews

Explore CDW reviews from homeowners and contractors and discover how they match up to other West Coast options and brands.

Company Information: California Deluxe is a Southern California based window dealer that provides replacement windows and doors across much of the region (mainly in the greater Los Angeles area). CDW has been in business since 1999 and is one of the main Anlin Window dealers.

What They Sell: The company sells Anlin Windows and Doors - the Del Mar, Catalina, Panoramic, and Coronado series. All of these series are considered very good options, while the Del Mar is considered excellent in my opinion.

Locations: CDW has locations in both Chatsworth and Santa Clara, although they service all of Southern California - from San Diego to Santa Barbara.

Online Rating: We aggregated the ratings from various online review sites. CDW gets a 4.2 out of 5 stars.

Overall Rating: California Deluxe Windows get 4.1 out of 5 stars based on 11 California Deluxe Windows Reviews below.

CDW vs Milgard

Hi Dane, thank you very much for your reply! We will try to get Milgard Trinsic estimate as well.

What is the quality of the CDW compared to Anlin or Milgard? They also showed us vinyl picture windows with narrow frame. We are yet to get estimate from them but it likely is not in the 30K range.

Padmaja, I don't feel like I know enough about CDW to give you a good personal opinion. However, I looked at their overall reviews, and found them to be less than stellar -- yelp gives them a 3.5 rating from nearly 350 consumers. That would be enough to toss them out of consideration for me....

California Deluxe Windows Reviews

Hello Dane and Tim, I've been researching companies, and I am more confused today than I was yesterday. Accidentally, came upon your website, and I wonder if you can answer a question.

Does $20,000 sound too pricey for replacing 13 windows, (vinyl), and this includes installation. This is a quote given by CDW, which does tons of radio advertisement, and I really don't want to pay for their advertising costs.

Actually I have 6 windows, but I am told that each pane is considered a "window" so, for example, my living room window is being counted as 3 windows. Left side and right side moveable, and picture window in the middle.

Thanks for taking the time.

[Site Editor's Answer]

Hi Nikki, $20K for 13 windows sounds quite pricey to me -- certainly for vinyl. I would recommend you get two to three more bids from local companies who sell Milgard Tuscany window, American Craftsman Craftsman Portrait window, Anlin Del Mar or the Monte Verde model, and the Simonton Reflections 5500 or the Impressions 9800 model. All of these companies ought to be available in your area and offer a quality vinyl window at a competitive price point.

Obviously, the project price tag will depend on the installation requirements so perhaps the price they quote you is fair, but my first impression is that's it's inflated. Two to three bids on the above mentioned window series should give you a very clear picture of whether or not this is true.

CDW Reviews vs Milgard

Is CDW a good manufacturer like Milgard?

Diana - Homeowner - from 2016

[Site Editor's Response]

Diana, I have no direct knowledge of CDW, only what other consumers and industry insiders have said. To sum up, it seems that many consumers feel they make a decent vinyl window, but that they employ some heavy handed sales tactics. This may or may not be true, but if you don't have this experience, then I'd say their products are pretty solid.

Personally, I typically recommend going with a more established brand like Milgard because you know they are going be around in the future if issues arise etc. You will have to go through the installer or company that sold you the windows (if something does come up) so make sure that the company you use is a quality operation and has worked with Milgard for at least a few years.

Bottom line for me is to go with Milgard over California Deluxe unless the latter can provide significant savings and assurances that their installation team is somehow superior to the Milgard rep./installers.

CDW Reviews

I wasted so much time waiting on these guys. I've never seen anyone so unprofessional. The salesman came out, gave his pitch, and did all his measurements and stuff. After three hours, he couldn't even give me an estimate because his computer wasn't working, and he said he couldn't call me but would have to come back out.

By the time he came back several days later, I'd had two other window companies come out and they were much more professional. Their quote was more than twice the other guys.

Homeowner Reviews

I met a sales rep of theirs at a home show. They call me several times a day even though I've told them not to. I'm going to have to complain to the licensing board to make them go away.

California Deluxe Windows Reviews

CDW makes nice looking windows, but I would never buy from them. I met with a salesman for over an hour and I really liked them, but I decided to wait a while before I had them put in. I figured in a couple months I'd call and have them do the job, but then they started calling me. They were calling two or three times a week, every time saying that they'd finished a job and had some extra materials that I could get a great deal on but only if I paid right away. I kept telling them not to call me anymore but they continued.

I called to try and talk to a manager or something, but I couldn't get anyone to return my calls. Eventually I got a call from the owner and he apologized and said it would stop, and I haven't heard from them since. I would say that they must have had an over earger employee, but from what I've heard they use pushy sales tricks all the time.

Cost Estimates

I looked into CDW and they seem like a decent product, but they were so unpleasant to deal with we ended up keeping our old windows instead. When I asked for a quote they gave me a ridiculous replacement window cost estimate of over $5,000 for 4 windows, then they tried to trick me with some "today only" special. It felt more like a scam than a business.

How They Measure Up To Regional Brands

5 years ago I bought 22 replacement vinyl windows from Amerimax and we've been very happy with them. They are painted dark green on the outside, white on the inside, and they look great on our house. They are sturdy, especially the locks, and the warranty is great too. The price was reasonable, a little higher than we would have liked but they are so much better than the others we looked at.

Some of the other brands we looked at just didn't measure up. Milgard only uses single strength glass. Atrium and Anlin don't have as good a warranty. California Deluxe was a good option, but were too pricey. Amerimax was perfect, it met all our needs without busting the budget.

California Deluxe Windows Reviews

I think that their windows are ok, they last a good while and have a lot of features to choose from. They are way too expensive. There are a lot of windows that are just as good and a lot cheaper. They do have a great energy efficiency ratings, but that's a lot more important in places where it gets cold than it is here in Southern California.

California Deluxe Complaints

I will never deal with these people again. The windows aren't that bad, but they left me feeling sleazy. They won't give you a written estimate, but they want to call you twice a day and offer a different "just for today" deal each time. Then if you do call them back they don't have that deal anymore, it'll cost a little more. I just hope they never call me again. Replacement Windows Cost
