Blomberg Window Systems is a California Bay Area manufacturer that has been in the window and door industry since 1957. The company operates out of their factory in Sacramento California and a showroom in San Francisco, California. The company is a rather high end operation that services most of the California and certain neighboring states via local window and door companies. Unfortunately, Blomberg Window Systems has some pretty mixed reviews with certain customers frustrated over how well the window systems have held up over time. Overall Rating:Blomberg Window Systems gets a 3.8 out of 5 stars based on 5consumer reviews below.
My Take On This Company: Blomberg makes beautiful doors and windows that are narrow and modern looking. However, mainy of their customer reviews aren't all that great, so I think your window and door needs have to be specific enough to justify getting a price quote from the company. And expect the price point to be relatively high compared with other window manufacturers.

Blomberg Windows Systems manufacture and sell four basic products that we will provide a very brief explanation below. The company focus (and claim to fame) is on manufacturing extremely narrow framed windows and doors, along with large format window walls.
These window walls are multiple section window units that are framed with narrow aluminum window frames and even sightlines. Blomberg Windows Systems window and doors focus on a modern and sleek aesthetic that are going to be quite expensive due to the size and archietucral requirements.
LCD Doors
Blomberg and La Cantina Doors have teamed up to create a bi-folding door system. Consumers can order the LCD doors in a number of different sill options.
SLD Doors
The Blomberg slimline is a narrow aluminum door with even sightlines that integrates well with the Blomberg T450 and T600 window options.
T450 Window Wall
The 450 window wall is the company’s “base” model that offers good thermal performance and is geared towards more “normal” home configurations.
T600 Window Wall
The 600 window wall is geared toward larger set ups and homes that require more extreme weather protection. Essentially, this is a larger and stronger option for high end coastal homes. They don’t have to be high end homes, but with the price tag, they often are.
Warranty Information
Unfortunately, I have been unable to suss out the warranty information on Blomberg Window Systems. It’s certainly not listed on the company website and there is scant information online that details the warranty timelines, provisions, and exclusions. However, I intend to find out this information and update this page as soon as I’m able.

Blomberg Windows Reviews
We considered Blomberg Windows when we were replacing our windows and doors and were defintely impressed by the quality and slim profile of the aluminum window frames. However, they were way too expensive for our project budget. The Blomberg window price quote was almost 50% more than the bid we got from Bonelli Doors And Windows out of Mesa, Arizona. Plus, we live in Arizona so it just made more sense to go with them in case there were issues etc.
Five years on and we are happy with our decision. I have spoken with a friend who went with Blomberg and they were generally happy as well, but have had some small issues (they live coastal in Monterrey so they have lots more moisture issues, while we’re more heat sensitive).

Carol, it sure sounds like you made the right decision here. I will say the Blomberg website is gorgeous and the product looks expensive. So I've never heard of Bonelli, but I'm going to go check them out and see what they are all about. It looks like their site is very nice as well - now let's see how the two compare on performance data, which is a big consideration with aluminum window set ups such as these.

Guidance on Window and Door Replacement
We recently received a quote to replace all of the windows and doors in our home using Blomberg aluminum frames, clear insulated glass, and new screens. The price quote feels cost prohibitive. I contact a second Silicon valley company that said that replacing our current fixed glass panels would be particularly complex.
Our long-term goals is to reduce our energy costs. At the same time, some of the hardware on our existing sliding doors is no longer repairable, which adds urgency to making a decision.
Given the high cost, the technical challenges involved, and the differing guidance we’ve received, we’re feeling uncertain about the best path forward. Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Bill, because I don't know your current set up, it's hard to make suggestions as to your best steps forward. In these situations, I always give the following advice - get as many price quotes as possible from local companies. Think of it like free professional advice. Even if you end up not using any of the companies, they'll still dole out suggestions, prices, and hopefully offer solutions that you might not have thought of.
A company like Blomberg uses aluminum frames, which are narrow and nice looking, but they might not get you the energy efficiency you are going to want (especially considering that their window walls are mostly glass). At any rate, you wanna get bids until your best solution is firm in your mind. High end vinyl windows and doors are almost always going to be way more energy efficient than aluminum, which is strong as heck but lacks in the energy efficiency sector.

Blomberg Window Systems Reviews
Hi Dane, I found this Q/A thread online with you providing such great, detailed answers regarding windows, so, I thought I’d reach out for some advice. I’m renovating a single story house in Pacifica CA with stunning ocean views. We are only keeping one of the interior walls, so effectively new construction. Design is modern!
The ceiling on the ocean side of the house is 15’ high (shed roof). I’m using casement windows, picture windows and sliding glass doors for the lower glass. For the upper windows, I want hoppers (hook and pole operation), because I want to take advantage of nature’s free air conditioning (and don’t want to get a ladder out every time I go to open/close the window). But, I’m having trouble finding anyone that manufactures modern hoppers.
I reached out to Blomberg, who I know makes modern windows, including hoppers. But their lead time is 16-18 weeks, AND they are telling me that can’t make the sliding glass doors with a U-factor of 0.26.
My questions are:
1. Do you know of a vendor that makes modern hopper windows? Of course, I want to minimize the frame and maximize the glass. My reading tells me that aluminum frames are typically thinner and more modern in design than vinyl. But, set me straight if there’s a modern vinyl window manufacturer.
2. My understanding is that the U-factor requirements for CA new construction (we are officially renovation, not new construction) is 0.30. So, I don’t even understand why Blomberg is telling me they can’t meet the U-factor requirements.
I’d appreciate any advice you might have about hoppers, and from whom to buy modern aluminum vs vinyl windows (or fiberglass if that’s a good idea). Kind thanks.

Pam, thanks for the question. I'm going to be honest with you, this is outside of my wheelhouse. I might have some observations though. Modern design is typically going to be thermally broken aluminum windows, which means your energy efficiency numbers like AI and U-value are going to be pretty poor.
On the plus side, aluminum windows are strong as hell and they have that sleek design for modern construction. I'm sure that's why Blomberg mentioned the U-value, just so you'd be aware that if you're looking for strong energy efficiency, you're probably not going to find it there.
Milgard does make a somewhat sleek and modern vinyl window in the Trinsic series. Worth a look if nothing else, and probably good to get a quote to see how the pricing compares. It is available in a darker exterior color, which is a popular trend right now. They also make an aluminum window, so take a look there as well for some comparison shopping.
The Anlin Panoramic series is going to be their slimmest profile. You're always going to lose out on energy efficiency with a slimmer frame, but the thinner vinyl frame is going to still offer much better numbers than aluminum. Of course, vinyl really doesn't have that modern look, but if you go with a darker exterior color, it can kind of mask that look. Whether it passes your smell test, I couldn't say.
Kolbe has a pretty strong presence up there and they offer aluminum, vinyl and wood windows. They would be one place I'd look and get a bid from a dealer. I'm not really familiar with higher end or boutique window sellers in the Bay Area. I'm sure they exist, but I'm not privy to them. I'll bet a dozen phone calls to some of the design centers in the city would produce a handful of additional leads in terms of who sellers hopper style windows.
Sounds like an exciting project. Best of luck and thanks for visting our Blomberg Window Systems Reviews - tell your friends as we need all of the help in the rankings as we could use!
