Graboyes Brands And Windows Overview

The company carries all major brands of windows and siding. I Iike this approach as it allows consumer much greater access to window options. Examples might include the Alside Mezzo (see review below), MI4000 series, and the Okna 500 window. Graboyes Warranty Information Coverage

Graboyes offers a two year labor warranty on their windows and doors. This means that within the first two years from the date of installation, the company will cover the replacement and repair cost for any defective products (and this includes the cost of installation, which typically accounts for 35% of the total project cost).

Graboyes offers their customers most major brands of windows and doors. Therefore, the actual window and/or door warranty depends on the manufacturer’s stated warranty terms. Vinyl windows typically carry a lifetime warranty of the frame, hardware, and component. Specifically, they protect against manufacturing defects. Wood windows. typically carry a 20 year to 25 year warranty.

Zen Windows β€” ProVia Or Soft-Lite $10,000 to $15,000 $1,000 to $1,500 per window Preliminary range; exact window series still needs to be confirmed

"Thank you for the information provided on your website, it is really helpful! I live in the western suburbs of Philadelphia in a townhouse community. I have decided to replace 10 of my windows which are builders grade windows from 1996 with mid grade vinyl double hung windows in white with a flat colonial grid. I have 3 quotes. I also reached out to Zen Windows in Philly and received a web quote for a range of $10k to $15k. They use the Provia or the Softlite which you complimented. Waiting for them to tell me which product they quoted. Thanks again.

The first, from a local family owned company, Graboyes, who have been in business for 75 years. I got the full 90 minute+ in home sales pitch. They quoted me $16,200.00 (after deals and incentives) and would use the Alside Mezzo window. Based on my research, that quote is high and should be more in the $12,500.00 range. In response to my request for information regarding installation, they say they use 1099 employees to do their installs but those employees have been with the company for many years. Local reviews for this company are generally good but they rarely mention the actual product. They focus more on the sales pitch or concerns about installations.

The second was from Power Home Remodeling Group. I have a friend who works there so thankfully I avoided a second 2+ hour sales pitch. He told me Power now partners with Pella windows who makes an "exclusive" window for them called Power by Pella. They are manufactured outside Gettysburg, PA so quick turnaround for East Coast customers. Installation is done by Power employees. This quote was about $12,500.00. Complaints about Power are almost always about the aggressive sales pitch and rarely about the product.

The third was from Window Universe, Philly - recommended by a window reviewer I found on line. They don't do the in home sales pitch and provided me a quote via e-mail using the Gentek Signature Elite window. Their quote was $10,061.00. I have read reviews on your website and some comments suggesting that the Signature Elite by Gentek is essentially the same window as the Alside Mezzo. I've also seen that the Alside Mezzo has a narrower frame to let more light in.

My objective is to purchase the best window in the mid-grade market for the best price. I'm prepared to eliminate Power as my research suggests that of the 3 choices, Pella is the least desirable. That leaves me with similar windows at a considerable price difference.

I'd be interested in a getting a quote from Okna Windows since they are based in Bristol, PA (not too far from me) and based on reviews I've seen although I've also read that their frames are more traditional with bulkier surrounds versus the Mezzo which is narrower for more light. Thus far it's been difficult to find an Okna dealer although if it's worth quoting their product, I'd call them directly for a name.

I don't want to perseverate too much on this decision and I also know, from reading your page, that installation is 50% of this project so that's a key part too once I decide on the product. I'd love to get Graboyes to offer me the Mezzo window at $12,500.00 if that's my best option. End of the year deal making could make that happen if you think it's worth it to try. Your comments and feedback are appreciated. Certainly if other products are worth considering, I'm not adverse to that either."

Editor's Advice:

Jennifer, I'm not sure I would go that far on the Pella window. The window they sell is the Symphony series, which I put above the Alside Mezzo and Gentek Signature Elite window (by the way these last two windows are nearly identical to one another). The Symphony is a wood interior with a fiberglass exterior and is one of the company's most customizable window series. Having said that, I wouldn't put the Pella Symphony as a top tier wood window.

Getting a bid from Okna is an EXCELLENT idea. This would be my choice over what you currently have.

Honestly, I think the call here is the Window Universe Gentek Signature Elite window for $10.6K. However, Window Universe has multiple branches and determining if yours has a good track record of installation and customer service is key here. If they check out, then I think this is your best bet.
