Editor's Gentek Window Review

Gentek Building Products, Inc. is a Canadian based company that has quite a lot of distribution throughout the United States, most of it in the eastern half of the country. Gentek is more known for its vinyl and aluminum siding products than its vinyl windows. Nonetheless, the company manufactures three vinyl window lines, including the Sequoia Select, Signature Elite, and the Concord Plus. The Sequoia Select is their premium window, while their Concord Plus is their entry level vinyl window.

In general, the company manufactures a mid range vinyl window, although their premium window with a few upgrades such as a top of the line glass package will produce some decent performance numbers. The company is pretty typical of other building materials and siding companies such as Ply Gem windows.

Gentek 80 Series Windows

Hi Dane do you have any other information on the Gentek 80 series windows? I'm going to be getting my windows done

Sun - Homeowner - from 2022

[Site Editor's Answer]

Sun, I don’t have any real solid information on the Gentek 80 series…only to say that the window is a mid range performer. You might want to at least get a couple more bids to compare with the Gentek bid.

Gentek Signature Elite Windows

Tim, I'm replacing 30 windows in my house and was quoted $450 installed each for Gentek signature Elirte windows.

Is there a better choice of window for this price point? I am in the Southern Climate zone. (Houston)

Bobby - Homeowner - from 2020

[Site Editor's Answer]

Bobby, $450 for a Gentek Signature Elite windows is a decent price for that particular model.

There are quite a few good options in your home town to also check out if you want to do some comparison shopping.

Zen Nirvana

Don Young Aluminum Series

NT Presidential

Anlin Del Mar

I would rather have any of these four in my home over the Gentek, but it's not a bad window. I do think you can get a better product for not that much more money.

Gentek Double Slider

Gentek shows a double slider in white vinyl window with options "regular" and also "tilt and turn". I assume that the "regular" does not tilt in for cleaning purposes OR is there any thing else different to compare the 2 units???

I am trying to decide which style of units to purchase.....

I will wait for your reply....

Mike - Homeowner - from 2020

[Site Editor's Answer]

Mike, the regular double slider will not tilt and turn from what I know. I actually don't know the specifics between the two. The Gentek rep though should have this information on lock. I'd check with him first.

Gentek Series 80 Windows

I'm replacing 22 windows, and have a bid for $9600 on the gentek series 80. This is in bc. I was wondering if it's a fair price. Thank you for your response.

Jennifer - Homeowner - from 2019

[Site Editor's Answer]

Jennifer, I'm not a Gentek expert. I couldn't find their 80 series on their website, but I did take a look at the brochure. It looks like a pretty middle of the road vinyl window, which isn't a bad thing at all (as long as you have solid installers). $435 per window is a nice fair price for a mid range vinyl window and normal installation. I hope that helps, I wish I knew more about their full line of windows.

All The Best.

Gentek Signature Elite 3000 vs. Andersen Narrowline 400

Hi guys, I have 27 windows that we are thinking of either redoing ourselves -- converting the Andersen 200 into the 400 series conversion.

Or going with the Gentek Signature Elite 3000, which would be quite a bit less expensive.

Thank you.

Wayne - Homeowner - from 2019

[Site Editor's Answer]

Wayne, doing conversions yourself can be tricky. If your window frames and sills are in good shape, then yes you should/could consider it. I would definitely get some professional opinions before you make that leap.

The Gentek Elite 3000 is nice middle of the road vinyl window. There is a big difference between a wood window and a vinyl window. I would make this decision first before you proceed.

Gentek Sequoia Select Prices vs. Okna Deluxe 500DX

We had researched windows and decided on the Okna Deluxe 500DX insultec only to find out there are no dealers in our area to install them. We live in the Midwest-KC area. In our search we found a company that carries a different window called Gentek. The specific Model is the Sequoia Select BarrierXP TG2. This window has a U-factor 0.23 and SHGC 0.25. This is a triple glass with two surfaces of of low-e glass and two air spaces of argon. Of course, the company owner believes this is the best window on the market.

However we cannot find a lot of current reviews on this window. The cost is $750 per window installed with colonial grids. We have 11 windows total 8 double hung, 1 large picture window and 2 casement windows. This price also includes wood rot repair on several of the windows. Before committing have you had any experience or heard current reviews on the Gentek windows?

Rachel - Homeowner - from 2017

[Site Editor's Answer]

Rachel, you are correct that there is precious little information on Gentek replacement windows, possibly because they are a Canadian based company. Or because they are a building company that sells most of their windows to big builders and not so much through smaller distributors. Whatever the case, I have heard good things about the Gentek Sequoia Select window. However, paying $750 per window for a vinyl window is at the upper end of the cost spectrum.

If it were me, I would keep looking for a couple of reasons. One, you want to get a few bids to see what's out there and what sort of price range you're looking at. Two, it's nice to see, touch and feel different windows to know how sturdy they feel and how well they open, which hardware you like the best etc. And to see if their is a particular installer who has good reviews that may be the best for your project. Finally, you can use the bids (particularly the lower priced ones) to negotiate the best price possible on the Gentek windows if you want to go that route. Here's an article that suggest one way to go about this process.

I would look at our page on the best replacement windows and then google "sunrise windows Kansas City" etc. to see if there are any local companies who service your area.

Gentek Vinyl Window Quality

Gentek manufactures vinyl windows that are builder grade as far as I'm concerned. I say this because they sell most of their windows through supply company storefronts to local installers and contractors. Essentially, Gentek is Revere from several years ago. Their nicer line does include a faux wood interior that I thought was pretty darn nice looking.
