Weathermaster Custom Windows Intro

Weathermaster Custom Windows is a Baltimore, Maryland window and door installation company that has been in business since 1986. (Apparently the company also offers roofing, but you have to dig into their website before this information is revealed.) This family owned company services the entire state of Maryland, as well as several Virgina counties, including Alexandria, Fairfax, and Prince William. Generally, Weathermaster maintains decent to very good consumer reviews. Additionally, the company reps and installs some very nice brands that we will detail below. Overall Rating: Weathermaster Custom Windows gets a 4.8 out of 5 stars based on 6 consumer reviews below.

My Take On This Company: Having little information myself on Weathermaster, I’m relying on context clues to sum up the company. Online, they have good reviews. In terms of what windows and doors they carry, many I would include in my best vinyl and fiberglass window options. So I am going to give the company a nice big thumbs up and say absolutely get a bid from them. Particularly, I’d advise to go with Okna, ProVia, and Ideal - you really can’t go wrong with any of these three. (But, ya know, still get a few more bids since I have no idea about their price quotes).

What Brands They Install

Weathermaster sells and installs the following vinyl window and door brands: Okna, ProVia, Ideal, Vytex, and Slocomb windows. Truthfully, I really like the first three brands here, very much like Vytex, and think Slocomb has one or two series that are good. This is a very strong roster - one of the best I’ve seen from any installation company.

The company also carries and installs Trimeline wood windows and Alpen fiberglass windows and patio doors. While I hear rarely about Trimline Alpen manufactures a super high end fiberglass product (probably the best in the business). Additionally, Okna, Ideal, and Provia all manufacture great entry and patio doors. ProVia makes some of the best doors in the business as far as I’m concerned.

Customer Warranty Information

What kind of warranty does Weathermaster Windows provide their customers? For a company that is so transparent about what they sell and install (I’m always shocked by how many companies withhold this information from their potential customers), I honestly can’t find the company’s labor warranty timeline. I know they offer one, but they don’t list it so far as I can tell). My spidey sense tells me it’s lifetime for the original buyer, but I cannot confirm this. Also, I couldn’t find any details on whether or not it can be transferred to a subsequent owner.

The window and door warranty comes directly from the manufacturer. And because Weathermaster sells and reps so many brands, it’s hard to summarize here. Thankfully, we have a replacement windows warranty page that is dedicated to spelling out the warranty terms and timelines for many of the brands tarried by Weathermaster. So do check it out, but remember that companies do change their warranty terms and we can’t always keep track of the 999 window companies in the United States (I actually have no idea how many companies there are, sorry).

Window Cost Quotes

Hi, I have received several quotes here in Baltimore. Could you rank the bids for me? There are 17 windows and the bids include installation costs. Also, I've already ruled out the Renewal By Andersen cost quote as too expensive. Thanks for your time.
Alpen Tyrol: $22k
Zen Windows Nirvana: $15.7k
Zen Lotus: $16.8k
Pella 250: $22k
Pella Impervia Windows: $27k

Renewal By Anderson: $45k

Of the quotes you have I like the Zen Nirvana quote the best (which is either the Soft-Lite Classic window or Pro). Alpen makes quite a good window and this is what I would go with if you are planning to stay in the home long term.

The other bid I like is the Alpen Tyrol Series. The performance data on the Alpen fiberglass windows is pretty darn impressive and this is a very good window.

Slocomb Window Bid

Thanks Dane- these are all our quotes we received. Would love your opinion on the best option now that we have all the quotes. We want to minimize glass loss but also want to have a good quality window. I’m including the Andersen and Pella lifestyle quotes in here so hopefully it may help others but we aren’t going with them.

This is for 27 windows- 3 picture, 1 sliding 2 casement and 21 double hung.

Thompson Creek - $37.5k Thompson Creek Windows Cost
Window Nation - Barrington - $17.5k
Window Nation - Potomac - $23.5k
Weathermaster - Slocomb 7700i- $20.1k
Weathermaster - Slocomb 4700i- $17.9k
ProVia Endure - $24.7k
Andersen renewal- $72.5k
Pella 250 windows - $37.5k
Pella lifestyle- $52.5k

Thanks again for all the advice!

Leslie, my pick here is the Potomac-hp for $23.5K. Second is the ProVia Endure windows for $24.7K. Both of these are truly excellent windows and based on the price quotes you have here, these seem to be the best value of the bunch --

Weathermaster Vinyl Windows

Hi I'm getting an estimate from local company that I trust but he uses weather master windows and I don't see any info or ratings on this company on your site. Can you help out with this. Thank you.

Max - Homeowner - from 2016

[Site Editor's Response]

Max, I don't hear a ton about WeatherMaster, but I did take a look at their website. It looks like they use Earthwise Windows for several of their window models. Check out the Earthwise window review page to see our take on the company.

The high end fiberglass window they use from Alpen is a great window, but it has to be quite expensive. In terms of the quality of WeatherMaster installation, I really don't have much information. What I would say is this; get a bid, make sure you know what window you are getting a bid on, and stay away from the entry level models.

I think you need to get a few more bids to know what's out there and to get some better idea of pricing. The more bids you get, the clearer the picture will become for fair market cost and installation requirements.
