Western Window Systems is a Phoenix, Arizona based manufacturer that specializes in aluminum windows and door systems. The company began way back in 1959 and operated independently for nearly sixty years. Then in 2018, Western Window Systems was acquired by PGT Innovations (the parent company of PGT Windows and Doors). Western Window Systems is known mostly for their larger configuration windows and patio doors that can be quite spend-y. Scroll down to read all of our Western Window Systems reviews.

Western Window Systems Products

The company manufactures four main window and door series, which include a standard vinyl, Classic Series (aluminum), Performance Series (aluminum windows), and a Simulated Steel Line (also aluminum). Their most popular series is the 670 Hinged Window Line. The company prides itself on crafting custom sizes and dimensions for both the residential and commercial market. The company sells through architects, builders, and local dealers (local retail companies) throughout much of the southwestern United States.

Western Window Warranty

The WWS warranty is pretty weak in my opinion, but it makes some sense given how large some of their install configurations can be. The specific warranty terms are going to depend on the series that the homeowner purchases - so do keep that in mind.

In general though, WWS offers a 10 year warranty that stipulates that the products will be free of defects in materials and workmanship and materials. This does not cover the cost of the labor to pull out the product and re-install. There are a series of exclusions etc - always read a warranty thoroughly prior to purchase as provisions and terms are often changing.

Western Window Systems Complaints

Several years ago, we bought several Western Windows System patio sliders nd now they have all sorts of issues. I'm not happy and the company is not being helpful. If they’re not standing behind the warranty, it makes more sense to have a local glass shop install a new pane for much less. But the window walls came with the warranty so why should I have to do it myself?

Has anyone else complained of Western Window Systems sliding door or windows breaking without warning. Western wouldn’t cover it and didn’t offer any real assistance — just told me to “contact a local partner.”

[Site Editor's Answer]

Lisa, I haven't necessarily heard of this issue, but I also don't hear a ton about Western Window Systems. So I'm going to keep your email in my company folder and if anyone does complain or post a similar review, then I'll be sure to reach out to you and have you two connect. I think that's all I can really do. If you think of anything else, please let me know!

Houston Texas Options

Hi Dane, my husband and I just bought a home in Houston that has Hurd windows from the 1980 that are at the very end of their lifespan. I really want a modern look - the Milgard Trinsic or the classic from Western Window Systems. Any opinions on this subject :)

[Site Editor's Answer]

The Milgard Trinsic series is a good call I think. I like the look of the window. I don't think it's the best window out there, but it's quite solid. Western Window Systems focuses on aluminum windows from what I know. Aluminum is an option for Houston - it's strong as hell, but it gets pretty dismal energy efficiency numbers. Aluminum windows tend to be narrow and have a modern look to them so that makes a lot of sense that you would like those.

Other options that come to mind include the Sunrise Restorations or perhaps the Okna 800 series.

Western Window Systems vs La Cantina

We’re in the middle of choosing between LaCantina Doors, NanaWall, and Western Window Systems and could really use some real-world feedback. Price-wise (we’re in the Bay Area), NanaWall and LaCantina Doors are basically neck and neck. Once you add in installation and tax, both come in pretty high. Western Window Systems is noticeably less expensive, but the tradeoff seems to be wider frames between the bifold panels, which means a bit more of the view gets blocked. For reference, our main door opening is 17 feet wide by 9 feet high, and we’re also doing a 6 foot x 7 foot kitchen pass-through window. From what we’ve been told, if we wanted bigger custom glass panels, we’d need steel beam construction.I’ve tried LaCantina doors and they’re super easy to operate (which matters with a not-so-great back). I’ve heard NanaWall is smooth too, but someone mentioned that Nana’s maintenance can be complicated — and expensive. Has anyone here actually dealt with servicing Nana doors?

Our final quotes came in at:

Western Window Systems: $28.1K
NanaWall: $39.6K
LaCantina: $39K

Anything else you think is worth knowing would be hugely appreciated. Thanks so much!

Gill, I think this really comes down to how long you plan to stay in your home (or if money is no object then go with the LaCantina). So I do think that the NanaWall and LaCantina window systems are nicer over the Western Window Systems, but they are also obviously much more expensive.

I tend to go toward the cheaper option when the overall quality is roughly the same - but that's my overall outlook on windows and doors in general. But I do think this comes down to how long you plan to stay in the home, how often you entertain, and what your overall budget is. These are the considerations that I think you need to really drill down on in order to make your decision.
