Windows And Siding Project Quotes
First off, I'm really enjoying your zen window posts and have learned more than I ever wanted to on windows and doors :). So far, I have one quote of $17,900 for 20 Zen windows, the model is the Nirvana (maybe Soft-Lite Classic window) with half grids. Is this price bid reasonable? I am located in Massachusetts if that matters. This price included the installation and any and all additional costs involved.
The other option and I'm not sure this is worth pursuing is doing both windows and our siding in one fell swoop. In this case, we wouldn't use Zen windows. Does it make more sense to use one single company then for the work? A friend and work colleague used Almar Building Remodelers some years back and we are consider having them come out and submit a bid. What are the pros and cons between these two approaches or does it not mater?

Wanda, without knowing any additional details, I would say that is a fair price. $845 for the Soft-Lite Classic series (some Zen dealers use Joyce windows as well so you should find out what window they are offering), with installation, does not seem excessive. I would get a couple more quotes for companies that rep Okna and Polaris perhaps. So get a quote from each of these to make sure that the price quoted is the fair market price for your particular project.
As to doing windows only or windows and siding together, I think it makes more sense to do it at the same time and knock it out in one fell swoop as you say. This way, you only have one company tromping around your home and they can integrate the removal and installation of windows and siding in a more coordinated effort that should help with the overall aesthetic (this isn't always the case but a company worth their salt should be able to accomplish this).
I've heard good things of Almar and I will try to poke around and see if I can come up with some additional home improvement companies for you to maybe get a bid from.

Remember to get at least a few bids as the quotes can be really varied and involve different products that might not be equal to one another.
