The company manufactures and sells vinyl windows and doors, which are considered a good quality (I'd say a decent second tier - comparable to say PGT Windows And Doors). The company sells their base model vinyl window, as well as their upgraded Sophia series. This model is a solid buy given the right price point. My Take On This Company: If I were going to go with Feldco, I'd stick with their premium Sophia series. While I wouldn't put the company in my top 40, they seem to do a quality outfit for the most part.

Is Feldco Expensive?
While FELDCO Windows, Siding & Doors isn't particularly expensive, they are not cheap either. The company is more of a mid range price point on the whole. Homeowners can expect to pay $650 to $950 fully installed for this brand, depending on which series they opt for. This cost assumes a medium sized window and retrofit installation.

Feldco Warranty
The company offers a pretty darn good warranty as far as the industry goes. It is a limited lifetime warranty that covers the window unit, all hardward and moving parts. Of course, it does not cover damage caused by fire, accidents or Acts of God. There is a five year labor provision on the warranty - quite nice. The warranty is transferrable one time to a new owner, but must be accompanied by a certified letter and a copy of the title transfer. The company also offers complimentary re-screening.

Feldco Window Prices vs Renewal
We have 16 windows that need to be replaced asap. We did get a bid from Marvin on the Essential Collection. These have black window frames and this added quite a bit to the price tag.
Marvin Essential Windows Cost: $35,500. They also bid out two patio doors at $3570 a piece.

Liv, the Feldco Sophia is good, but that quote is overpriced. I don't know enough about Climate Solutions and/or Advanced Windows to make a call on them at this point. I would say the Soft-Lite Classic would be my call here. Soft-Lite is a very good brand and the Classic is a good window. How Much Do These Windows Cost
Dane, I have a question on your window cost calculator. How accurate is this calculation for Feldco windows? I have 15 double hung that I would to replace. Do they offer different levels of quality for their windows? If so, I prefer the top of the line. I mean, is Feldco expensive?

Dave, well I think it's pretty accurate -- a mid range vinyl window with retrofit installation and some additional work to the frames should run about $700...however, I think alot of companies are charging or I should say bidding out their work at much higher rates, but that doesn't mean that their prices are the fair market prices...getting three of four bids is the best way to find the competitive bids on your project. vs Provia and UWD
Dane, do you think that Feldco Sophia windows are worth 800 each installed? We got a bid from them two years ago and they were $100 less each. Also, we are comparing this to the ProVia windows prices quote of $675, which sounds good to me. However, I had a neighbor who said that ProVia doesn't cover warranties for rental properties. Is this true? Universal Windows Direct was our third bid and they wanted $850 installed. I'd love to get your opinion here.

Dawn, I would say that the Sophia is worth $800 fully installed. However, I would go with ProVia windows over Feldco myself; especially at that $675 per window. I might put the Feldco Sophia on par with the Unishield Plus sold by UWD - meaning that the Feldco windows cost bid is a better overall value than the Universal Windows Direct. The ProVia warranty is good, but honestly, I'm not sure whether it covers rentals or not. However, I will try and look that up and get back to you.

I've got aluminum siding and j-channel which is in great shape. * 2 places will cut the siding back and replace the j Channel. All the others plan on going up to it and using tape and fillers and spacers or whatever they do.
We take good care of our house and want it to look nice. The prices on some I think are way out of line and then there's the fact I still want to replace my driveway in the spring so that's another 10K. I don't want a crappy install and I don't want crappy windows but I don't want to have to give up the other improvements we need done. We plan on staying in the house for at least another 5 years, maybe longer.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Jeff, the Sophia is not a bad option at all and the price bid on that is at least reasonable. If the installation company doing that work had a good reputation, I might strongly consider that option. I rarely consider WW, but if you are only staying in the home for 5 to 8 years, the Window World 6000 might be worth considering as well.
But, again, this would only be if my local WW had a solid reputation for quality work. Several of them absolutely do, I just don't love the quality of their windows, although the Alside Ultramaxx (which is often what the 6000 model is) is a pretty solid option. (Check out all of our Window World reviews here.) I'm not sure how you considering the others given the scope of the work required.
