Simonton Windows vs Pella 2026: Which Brand Wins?

Simonton and Pella do share some things in common, but honestly, not all that much. First off, Simonton manufactures and sell only vinyl window series and doors, while Pella makes and sell wood, fiberglass, and vinyl windows and doors. Additionally, of the two, Simonton Windows And Doors is much less well known known by most American consumers (although they are carried in the big box stores like Home Depot).

Conversely, Pella is one of the largest window companies in the U.S. and certainly one of the best known. From the persepctive of reputation, I would say that Pella outshines Simonton, but I really like the Simonton brand as a solid mid range vinyl window manufacturer.

Our Verdict: In terms of vinyl windows and patio doors, Simonton offers the better selection and the better value over Pella (but stick with their premium series for long term value). If your goal is a high end wood clad window, then Pella is one of the best in the business and you should definitely get a bid from a local window company.

Simonton vs Pella (Company Comparison)

Simonton windows and doors is headquartered in Cary, North Carolina and has been in business since 1946. In general, the company has quite a good reputation as a solid vinyl window manufacturer. The company was acquired by Ply Gem some years back and then in 2014, Ply Gem was acquired by Cornerstone Building Brands. CBB has purchased a number of fenestration companies over the past decade and looks to continue this trend for the foreseeable future.

Pella, on the other hand, is a privately held company that is also one of the largest window and door companies in the U.S. In fact, I would say that Pella or Andersen Windows are really the only companies in the industry that might be considered household names. The company has been in business for over 100 years and is headquartered in Pella, Iowa. The companies enjoys quite a good reputation in the industry for their high end wood clad windows. The rest of their offerings I would say are just kinda so-so.

Simonton Windows vs Pella Lineup

What they sell: Simonton sells a large number of vinyl window and door series (in fact too many in my opinion). Simonton carries the Reflections series, Impressions, Stormbreaker Plus Impact Window, Daylight Max series, Madeira series, VantagePoint, and many more. Between the east and west coast locations, there are so many Simonton vinyl window series that it can be quite confusing.

Now, not all of them are sold in all parts of the country, so they specialize based on where you’re located. Their most popular series include the VantagePoint, which is sold through Home Depot windows. Additionally, the Stormbreaker Plus and Reflections series are very popular options.

Pella Windows And Doors sells far fewer options than Simonton. However, they manufacture and sell a wider variety of frame materials, including vinyl, fiberglass, and wood clad. On the vinyl window front, the company offers two options: the upgraded 250 series and the Encompass. Personally, I would pass on the Encompass and rate the 250 series as a very solid mid range vinyl window option.

On the fiberglass front, Pella sells the Impervia series, which I consider a less than top tier fiberglass option - not the sturdiest of frames when compare with other top tier fiberglass options such as the Marvin Elevate or Infinity series.

However, Pella really shines in the wood clad window and patio door space. The company offers the ultra high end Reserve series, as well as the high end Architect and their base model Lifestyles Series. All of these are quite well made.

How They Market

Simonton markets their windows and doors in a number of different ways. First, they sell their Daylight Max and VantagePointe Series through the big box stores. Additionally, Simonton maintains a huge number of local window dealers who are spread throughout most of the 50 United States. This is the main mechanism by which they sell their windows.

Finally, the company sells through contractors and large builders. In fact, it is sometimes said that any contractor with a truck has access to Simonton windows. And while this is probably true, it also means that the level of high quality installation is going to be fairly low (meaning more consumer complaints over time). Generally, Simonton is a very popular brand because they are (mostly) well built and have a reasonable price point.

Similar to Simonton, Pella markets their windows and doors in a number of different ways. First, they sell their entry level Pella 150 vinyl window through the big box stores like Lowes. Additionally, they maintain thousands of local window dealers throughout most of the 50 United States that sell to their client base. And finally, Pella also sells their products through local contractors and large builders.

Simonton DaylightMax vs Pella 250

Project Type: Replacement of 30-year-old builder grade windows
Location: Colorado
Data Source: 2026 Homeowner Question

Window Series Total Quote Installed Average Installed Cost
Simonton DaylightMax 33% less than Pella 250 N/A
Pella 250 Series $5,000 more N/A

"Hi Dane, I’ve got a quote for DaylightMax windows that is 33% less expensive than the Pella 250 quote. I live in Colorado and am replacing 30 year old builder grade windows. Do you think we’ll notice a difference between the two? It’s a $5k difference?"
Howard, Homeowner - from 2026

Editor's Advice:

Well, the Daylight Max is the thinner window frame so it will not be as energy efficient as the Pella 250 series. That’s the trade off and there isn’t a way to get around it - glass area vs energy efficiency. However, I will say that the Daylight Max will still be a vast improvement over your older windows.

I might suggest making the decision based on how important glass area is to you. Some homeowners opt to do the thinner windows in the front and a more robust frame everywhere else. Generally, I would think the Pella 250 is probably worth the extra cost. You might want to grab another bid or two as a sure fire way to see if you can’t get a similar windows price bid on a better window than both the Pella 250 and/or the Simonton Daylight Max. Might be worth the additional two hours of your time.

"I have 5 quotes listed below for my Austin Texas location. What is my best option or should I look for more quotes. Project scope: 15 total windows, some large some eyebrows with legs.

Quotes:
1. Product Wincore 5400 $14,489.75
2. Zen Soft-lite Nirvana = $20,211
3. Pella 250 Series = $14,041
4. Simonton Vantage Point 6500 = $17,984
5. Simonton P Plat = $20,045

Thank you."
Jon, Homeowner - from 2025

Editor's Advice:

Jon, I like the Soft-Lite Classic (Zen Nirvana), but it's also your highest bid so I don't want to pick it without giving you a little more of my take on all your other bids. Wincore Windows makes a decent window, but I like their upgraded 7700 series more. I'd be curious what the company who gave you that bid would price out the 7700 at...if it's at $16000 or less it's definitely something to consider.

Simonton's VantagePointe is just sort of okay in my opinion. Installation quality has to come into effect so make sure that whoever you go with offers quality installation, good reviews and a labor warranty on their work.

Pella 250 vs Simonton Platinum Prism

Project Type: 18 replacement windows
Location: Not provided
Data Source: 2022 Homeowner Quote Comparison

Window Series Total Quote Installed Average Installed Cost
Pella 250 Series $15,000 $833
Zen Nirvana $13,800 $767
Amerimax Craftsman Portrait $12,800 $711
Simonton Platinum Prism $14,000 $778

"I have collected three bids for 18 replacement windows and would appreciate your thoughts on which option offers the best combination of quality and value. The Zen Nirvana and Simonton Platinum Prism are priced so closely that I'm wondering if they are essentially comparable products. For simplicity, I've rounded all of the quotes.

Pella 250 Series: $15,000
Zen Nirvana: $13,800
Amerimax Craftsman Portrait: $12,800
Simonton Platinum Prism: $14,000"

Margaret, Homeowner - from 2022

Editor's Advice:

Margaret, the Platinum Prism is quite good and is probably on par with the Craftsman Portrait. However, the Zen Nirvana, which is the Soft-Lite Classic window, is the strongest overall product in this group. I would probably eliminate the Pella 250 because the price is higher than I would want to pay relative to the quality level it provides.

That leaves the Amerimax Craftsman Portrait and the Zen Nirvana as my two favorites. Between the two, I would personally spend the extra money and go with the Zen Nirvana. It's a very solid window and the pricing looks fair for what you're getting.
