My Take On This Company: Abby Home gets very good reviews and the company sells ProVia Windows And Doors. In my book, that’s a no brainer. So, long story short, absolutely get a bid.

Abby Home Windows

Abby Windows And Exteriors sells and installs ProVia Windows And Doors (love this brand). Honestly, this is one of my favorite window and door brands. On the siding front, Abby Home installs the following brands: Preservation and LP SmartSide (love LP SmartSide). On the roofing front, Abby Home is GAF Certified and uses GAF roofing materials and products on their replacement roofs (GAF is a solid brand).

Abby Home Warranty Information

The company provides a 90 day labor cost provision, which is pretty weak compared to the industry average. One to two years is much more typical for installation companies. Anything past this time period and the company charges $175 to come out and inspect the claim.

However, the products they install come with their own window manufacturing warranty. Specifically, ProVia Windows and Doors offer quite a solid warranty on their products. Here is a link to our warranty page where we list most warranty provisions from top companies.

Abby Windows And Exteriors Cost Quote

Hi Dane, we are replacing the windows in our cape cod in northern Wisconsin: 18 double-hung, 5 picture, and one sliding glass door.

We are narrowing it down to ProVia and Sunrise. Andersen 400 series was too expensive, we had issues with Pella fiberglass. We haven’t looked at other windows.

We are talking to three companies – all with quite good install records, including Abby Windows And Exteriors.

1 & 2 are getting soured on Sunrise Windows because of the length of time it is taking to receive the shipments. 3 won’t entertain using Sunrise because of the time lag and points out that Sunrise being sold to MI might cause issues. We received these estimates. (The companies get good reviews on Checkbook.) We haven’t received all of the estimates yet.

ProVia Endure $19.9K
Sunrise Standard $19.9K
Sunrise Restorations $21.7K
ProVia Aeris $25,799
ProVia Aspect $178K

[Site Editor's Answer]

Andie, running through all of your options and needs, I would place the ProVia Endure with Fineline for $19,934 at the top of the list. A great vinyl window and that price quote seems very fair to me. Please see our proVia windows reviews page to confirm this for your own peace of mind. I would place the Sunrise Restorations for $21,774 second, but obviously if long lead times are an issue then this is a tricky one to pull the trigger on. That Vanguard is nearly as good as the Restorations, so I would look at this if the price is close to the ProVia Endure. All good windows and it sounds like the installation companies are solid. I am waiting to hear about Sunrise issues with the acquisiton by MI Windows, but so far I haven't heard of any...time will tell.

Wisconsin Replacement Windows

Hi Dane, my wife and I recently bought an older home in WI and we're looking to upgrade our windows. So, ere are a few details: we live in Wisconsin and have a total of 18 total windows; of which (14) are 30" wide x 69" high. other (4) are roughly 24" wide x 48" high. Patio Door: 32" wide x 80" high; exterior hinge going to our deck.

Our style is double-hung; no grid. Either vinyl or fiberglass windows? Also, our goal is to find a balance of investment to provide energy savings, comfortable home, and sound-dampening improvement. Yet, we don't want to break the bank. As well, Live in urban environment and can be loud. We recently received a quote from Marvin for $47k for their Ultrex line and nearly fell out fo my chair. Then we got a bid from Abby Home Windows for $28K for the Provia Endure window series. Thanks for the help to navigate the sea of window options out there.

[Site Editor's Answer]

Shawn and Julie, I think you have some very good options in your location. If you don't need to break the bank, then stick with good to great vinyl windows -- I'll send you my list for WI. Additionally, I have heard good things about Abby Home and they sell the ProVia brand, which is quite good. So, I would say you have a solid bid in that. Now, let's get three more good bids and then make the decision. Sound like a plan?!

Abby Home vs Simonton

I'm replacing most of my windows with new construction windows as part of residing mt house (I have access to the flanges). The original 21 year old Capitol Windows are junk. I have a 13 year old addition with Builder's First Source windows that seem ok (they're staying). I tried to match the Builder's First Source windows and ended up with two MI windows in the garage. They seem ok, but it's hard to tell, since it's a garage.

The contractor has priced out Simonton Pro-Finish Master and Viwinco Choice Windows. The Simonton is more expensive and I assume they better... are they? Is the difference significant? My neighbor used Abby Home windows and they look very nice - any word on them?

Martin - Homeowner - from 2023

[Site Editor's Response]

Martin, the Simonton ProFinish Master window is a solid vinyl window, better than the ProFinish Builder and with a fewer nice features that don't come standard on the ProFinish Contractor (the ProFinish is available in three levels or options).

Viwinco offers two new construction windows, the S-Series and the Builder's Choice, I'm assuming that your contractor is referring to the latter option. The Simonton option is going to be better then the Viwinco. Simonton is a bigger company and you will have more options if something does go wrong. Sure, you might pay more for the Simonton, but it's a better long term option that I would hop will provide better value over the life of the windows.

To the best of my knowledge, Abby Home uses ProVia windows and these are better than anything from Simonton or Viwinco. So definitely get a bid from them - I'm assuming its going to be quite a bit more expensive so that will have to be factored in. As always, whoever you choose, make sure they do a thorough job installing the windows as that's half the battle.

Abby vs Alside

Dane, hey, were in Wisconsin (finally warming up, so excited) and I'd like to get your take on the following bids, which includes tax, materials, labor, and haul away. And it's for 14 windows fyi.

Marvin Essential Windows (local dealer): $17300
ProVia Aspect (Abby Home): $8500
Alside 3100 series (triple pane from David Exteriors (sp?)): $7200

Jim - Homeowner - from 2020

[Site Editor's Answer]

Jim, of the three, I would definitely say the ProVia Aspect for an extra $1300 over the Alside is the way to go. They Aspect is a very good window and ProVia as a brand is also very good. Alside makes an okay window, but not on the same level as Soft-Lite or Okna Windows, but still very good. Abby Windows and Exteriors is a good outfit with great reviews. See if Abby will come down off their price at all. I'd use the Alside bid as leverage vs Abby to drive and drive down their price.

Competing Replacement Window Price Quotes

Need to replace 11 double hungs, plus a double casement. I don't need the best windows out there, but also want a window that will hold up for the next 20 years. I have a quote on a ProVia Endure window and a Simonton Prism Platinum. Nearly the exact same price, with the Endure from Abby Home just slightly less than the Simonton.

The Simonton bid is from a highly reviewed contractor and Abby Home is well reviews and has their own certified installers.

Alice - Homeowner - from 2019

[Site Editor's Response]

Alice, the ProVia Endure is better than the Simonton Prism Platinum. Both are good windows though. Assuming you like the Abby Home team and have checked their online reviews etc. this is what I would go with. Okay, so I just went and checked out Abby Home and they are the winner here - probably by a lot. I am currently building my Abby Windows And Exteriors Reviews webpage so I will be sure to post this on the page for others to understand their products and general pricing structure.
