Replacement Windows Reviews : Replacement Window Companies : Dick’s Rancho Glass

Dick’s Rancho Glass Intro

Dick’s Rancho Glass is a Sacramento, California based window, door, and glass repair and replacement company that has been in business since the early 1960s. This family owned and operated business maintains two locations, including one in Sacramento and the other down the street in Fair Oaks. Generally, the company maintains — good to quite good — consumer reviews. Interestingly, I was unable to find any discernible google local reviews for the company, which I consider to be higher quality than other online review sites - with the exception of our reviews of course :) Scroll down to read all of our Dick’s Rancho Glass reviews.

Overall Rating: Dick’s Rancho Glass gets a 4.6 out of 5 stars based on 6 consumer reviews below.

My Take On This Company: Dick’s Rancho Glass is definitely worth a project bid. They seem to do good work, carry a nice brand with Milgard, and do well with consumers. Dick’s Rancho Glass is a certified Milgard Windows And Doors dealer. I generally like this company and brand. While they aren’t particularly impressive on the aesthetic front, the company makes well made and very functional windows and doors in vinyl, aluminum and fiberglass.

What Brands They Carry And Install

The company sells a number of different options and materials, which we will profile below. Additionally, the company provides the following services to their customers: Glass Repair And Replacement, Windows, Doors, Shower Enclosures, and Screens.

Vinyl Windows

Dick’s Rancho Glass sells and installs Milgard vinyl windows, including their Style Line, Trinsic, and Tuscany Series. All three of these options are decent, although I would skip the Style Line and go with the modern looking Trinsic series or the more ho-hum looking Tuscany series.

Fiberglass Windows

On the fiberglass windows front, the company sells the Milgard Ultra series. While the Milgard is a step below the suite of Marvin fiberglass windows, the Ultra is still a nice unit in my opinion.

Aluminum Windows

Dick’s Rancho Glass sells and installs the Milgard Ultra series A250 aluminum window. This thermally broken aluminum window is strong and narrow, but can’t quite compete with vinyl on the energy efficiency front.

Patio Doors

On the patio door front, the company sells the same window series listed above, which are all available as a sliding patio door.

Warranty Information

What is Dick’s Rancho Glass warranty terms and provisions? The company offers a 10 year labor warranty on their products, which is a pretty impressive labor timeline. Also, check out our labor cost to install windows page. However, I was not able to find out about the transferability of the warranty.

As to their products, the company carries Milgard, which offers a separate warranty based on the frame material. For terms and provisions, please see our replacement window warranties page.

Dick’s Rancho Glass vs Glass Guru

Recently replaced my patio slider glass after my teenager took a chair to it (long story and one he is still working off). Ended up getting two quotes, one from Glass Guru and one from Dick’s Rancho Glass. Ended up going with Dicks based on reputation and the fact that my neighbor had used them for their replacement windows a handful of years ago. They charged us $875 to replace with tempered glass, which was definitely not used on the originals and is dangerous.

Unfortunately, my insurance didn’t cover the cost but I’ve heard that certain insurance companies will cover the cost to put the slider up to code with the tempered glass (i think this is right). At any rate, the company did a great job for us.

Regional Window Brands

5 years ago I bought 22 replacement vinyl windows from Milgard through Dicks Glass and we've been very happy with them. They are painted dark green on the outside, white on the inside, and they look great on our house. They are sturdy, especially the locks, and the warranty has been great too. The price was reasonable, a little higher than we would have liked, but they are so much better than the others we looked at.

Some of the other brands we looked at just didn't measure up. Amerimax only uses single strength glass. Atrium and Anlin don't have as good a warranty. California Deluxe was a good option, but were too pricey. Amerimax was perfect, it met all our needs without busting the budget.

Dick’s Rancho Glass Reviews

Hi Dane, I have two window quotes and I would love to get your opinion on both of them. The first is on the Anderson 400 series windows. I really like the look of this window and it seems to get very good online reviews. My question is, is it worth $2000 more than the Milgard Ultra series. This is for 11 openings.

So obviously, my other bid is on the Milgard Ultra from Dicks Glass Rancho (I think this is the name). I would love to save the money, but I’m more interested in getting high-performing wood clad windows. Thanks so much and I love your site. I intend to fill out the form if one of these two bids doesn’t work out for me.

[Site Editor's Answer]

Joni, thank you for the question. In terms of wood clad, you couldn’t have picked two better options. Both the Anderson 400 series windows, especially in the woodwright model, is a favorite of mine. However, the Milgard Ultra is also a great looking window and good performer. I say good because wood clad simply can’t compete with high-quality fiberglass or the best vinyl windows out there. Lots of consumers think that vinyl windows are junk, but the really well-made options blow the doors off of most, if not all, wood clad windows.

For me, wood windows are all about how they look. The overal quality and craftsmanship of both of these series is, in my opinion, equal to one another. If this were my project, I would base my decision on which window I liked the look of more. I don’t think that $200 more per window or whatever it breaks down to should be the difference maker here. I would go with what I like the most and I would look at the online reviews of the two companies doing the installation. This would be the other big factor for me.
