Detroit Window ReplacementsHi Dane, I have three quotes for these windows for my just outside Detroit home. Specifically, 32 units total with mostly double hung, some large picture windows, 1 patio door, 2 casement windows and a custom window. Also, it appears as though the Oknas have a bit more glass and slimmer frames. Also seems as though the glass is clearer compared to the darker Provia. Do you have a recommendation for which you would select? Thank you for your help.
[Site Editor's Answer]Tadhg, the first two are both excellent windows and patio doors. The Victors bid doesn't tell me what specifically they are installing so I would toss this bid. Check out our Victors Home Solutions reviews page if you do want to pursue this option. Okay, back to the ProVia and Okna Windows. The price difference is about what I would expect so I can't say which is the better deal here. However, I would counsel you to look at the overall reputation of the company doing the work as the first factor to make the decision.
Chicago Replacement WindowsGood afternoon, I just purchased a home here outside of Chicago. So, I'm contacting you to get some recommendations for window manufacturers that you prefer and possibly any installers that you might know and trust in my area. Looking to replacing 9 existing windows in my 1986 home. The home currently has the original aluminum windows, and I would like to upgrade to vinyl. 6 are standard size 2 need to be obscured temper fixed panel and 1 odd size side light next to the front door. Also, don’t have a need for hurricane windows.
[Site Editor's Answer]Brock, here is my list of Chicago recommendations. I don't have any specific companies in mind, but this should get you started for sure! Additionally, I never like it when the company that provides the bid doesn't want to reveal the product they're using. I think I'd move on from here if I were you.
Victors Home Solutions ReviewsHello Dane, I was browsing your site looking for recommendations for faux wood vinyl windows and sliding glass doors. I have seen Sunrise and ProVia and got quotes for a sliding glass door. Sunrise is at $5925, ProVia $6375. At this rate, I doubt I will be able to afford their windows. Are there any others I should check out? I am in Orland Park, IL. Someone had mentioned Victors Home Solutions, but they may just be in the Chicagoland area, which doesn't do me any good.
[Site Editor's Answer]Mary, many of the top manufacturers offer a faux wood vinyl patio door so I will send you my recommended list for you to take a look at. Okna, Polaris, and Soft-Lite all come to mind for additional options though. I would still call up Victors Home Solutions and see if they will give you a bid, or at the very least
