Replacement Window Price Quotes
Dane, your site has been a wonderful resource. I am replacing wood clads in a house built in 1992 and think I have narrowed my search down to the Marvin Infinity. However, the quote I received seems high compared to the general price per window I see on your site. I also considered the Sunrise Restorations but was advised that the hybrid vinyl and fiberglass window could not be made in the dimensions needed for my large round top front window (60”x96”) and I am concerned that having one Marvin window next to the Restorations in the front of the house may not look right.
I have attached both quotes. Both are for full frame installs. Would you mind giving me your opinion? Thank you. The Marvin Windows quote is actually $33,000 with a 10% discount and Big L suggested using the Marvin Infinity for the large round top if we go with the Restorations. Do you think that would be too incompatible as far as looks go? Also is the Marvin Infinity quote in line with what you would expect for that window?
The Sunrise Restorations quote came in at $21,000.
The Renewal by Andersen cost was just ridiculous at $47,000 for a pocket install.

Vicky, so the Marvin Infinity quote is for $36,765 and the Sunrise Restorations is for $20,770. For me, the Sunrise Restorations is a fantastic window that is definitely as good as the Marvin Infinity. This would be my choice in a heartbeat (given the almost double cost of the Marvin). The inability of the window to be made in a round top is problematic. I would find another vinyl window manufacturer that uses a slim frame like the Restorations for the round top and see how close you can get the frame widths to match.

Hi Tim, thank you in advance for taking the time to look over my estimates. I live in the Buffalo, NY area. We are looking to replace original casement windows with 9 double hungs and 2, maybe 3 awning windows. We have called seven window companies for estimates and thanks to your site I have a better understanding of what to look for in windows. My research on companies has come up with the below list of estimates. I was looking to see what your thoughts are on them. Thank you again.

1. Comfort Windows Upstate NY company that manufacturer's their own windows
9 dbl hungs, 3 awnings
-Triple pane- $11,687
-Double pane- $10,662
2. Tomson Windows Soft-lite Pro Series
9 DH and 2 awnings
-Double pane- $7645
Doesn't recommend triple pane windows due to weight for the size of some of the double hung windows.
3. Big L windows and doors Sunrise Restorations w/ glass pkg N2100A
9 Dbl hung, 5 full replacement and 4 inserts.
1 awning- insert
Double pane- $11,625
4. Wonder Windows Okna Insul-tec Deluxe double pane
9 DH and 2 awning
$8788
- Okna Enviro-Star
+ $1500-2000= $10300-$10800
(Said he wouldn't recommend bc will not make up the difference in cost over the life of the windows)

Are the Platinum window series the same/similar to the Restoration windows?

From what I have been reading on your site (I found you by searching for Big L Windows And Doors reviews) and others I think my top 3 would be estimates 4, 2, and 5. We don't plan on moving for a long time, so I would like a good quality window. I am looking to see what your thoughts are. Looked up reviews for installation quality. I take them with a grain of salt. They all had pluses and minuses, none really stood out as I definitely should hire this company. Thank you again.

Enzo, I think you are completely correct in your thinking on the particular bids. Since you are staying in your home long term, I would say the Okna Insul-tec Deluxe double pane bid is the top, followed by the Soft-lite Pro Series. These would be the bids I would work first. If one or both falls out for some reason, then I would probably consider the Sunrise windows cost bid. Great window selection though! All of these three options are excellent!
