Citiquiet Windows Reviews 2026
CitiQuiet is one of the main soundproofing window companies in New York City, along with CitiQuiet, Cityproof and Soundproof Windows. The positive for consumers is that all three seem to manufacture an effective soundproof window. Citiquiet is often the least expensive of the 3 options, although there are a fair number of consumers who have enough sound issues that price tends to be less important than effectiveness. One place where windows won't help is with through wall A/C and vents, although there are covers that you can buy that should reduce much of this noise at night. CitiQuiet generates very good reviews and their prices are quite competitive when compared with other NYC soundproofing options.

CityProof vs CitiQuiet Soundproof Windows
| Company | Quote Detail | Homeowner Takeaway |
|---|---|---|
| CityProof Windows | $3,700 for 2 bedrooms | Selected option; strong noise reduction and insulation |
| CitiQuiet Windows | Approximately $1,200 higher | More expensive competing bid |
| Indow | Not quoted | Viewed as more of a DIY insert option |
"Living in a second-floor NYC walkup overlooking a busy avenue has its charm — until it’s 2 a.m. and you’re still listening to buses hiss at red lights beneath your bedroom window. The noise had gotten to the point where it felt impossible to fully relax in my own apartment, finally decided to look into soundproof windows. After a fair amount of research, I narrowed it down to CityProof and CitiQuiet."
"I ended up going with CityQuiet after receiving estimates from both companies. Their quote came in roughly $1,200 lower, and honestly, the results have been outstanding. The street noise dropped dramatically — the constant traffic rumble and random late-night shouting are mostly gone now. Before the install, my bedroom felt freezing every winter. Now it actually holds heat and feels comfortable all year."
"The two bedroom windows cost me around $3,700 total, which definitely isn’t inexpensive, but in terms of quality-of-life upgrades, it’s probably one of the better investments I’ve made."
"I hadn’t really explored Indow Windows at the time, although from what I understand it seems more like a DIY interior insert system. CityProof and CitiQuiet are unquestionably premium-priced products. I’ll probably tackle the living room eventually, although I’m guessing those three windows will end up costing somewhere in the neighborhood of another $5,000."

CitiQuiet vs CityProof Windows
We live in a converted warehouse in Brooklyn with the original single pane windows. They look beautiful and have real character, but they do almost nothing to block out cold air or street noise (which is a real issue for us). We wanted to preserve the original aesthetic, so storm window inserts felt like the right solution.
Our window openings are unique — large, arched at the top, and far from perfectly square — which contributed to the higher pricing. The Indow rep recommended adding a horizontal support beam and splitting each opening into two smaller inserts to improve the seal and overall performance given the unusual shape.
We received comparable quotes from CityQuiet Windows ($13,700 installed) and Cityproof ($13,900 installed) for three oversized openings measuring about 4 feet by 8 feet each. In contrast, our local installer completed the entire project using the Indow inserts for $7,000, including materials and labor.
The ordering and crosscountry shipping process took about eight weeks, which was a bit annoying but the price difference was worth it. Installation wasn’t completely seamless due to the irregular window openings, but both Indow and our installer were responsive and handled the challenges professionally. We chose the standard inserts, and they’ve made a noticeable difference — significantly reducing outside noise and keeping our loft much warmer.

Don, that's really interesting to see that spread in price between the two options. I'm not sure I ever knew how much less Indow windows were compared with the more established companies in that area. Great to know! And I'm glad that everything worked out well.

Soundproof Window Options
What is your opinion on the best soundproof window option? I live a block away from a very busy and loud road and I hear traffic day and night. I’ve already replaced my windows three times in the past and nothing has helped. Is there anything you can suggest that might help us out with this issue? At this point, I don't care what it costs us.

Barb, some options that might be available to you include Cityproof, CitiQuiet and the Amsco Serenity windows. The best soundproofing window on the market is the Milgard Quiet Line, but I don't think that would be available in your immediate area.
Additionally, it may be a good idea to schedule a professional home evaluation to determine whether your walls and surrounding areas are properly insulated. The reason I say this is because even the highest quality windows won’t significantly reduce noise if the rest of the home lacks adequate insulation. These evaluations aren't super expensive, but they may prove fruitful in your quest to find the source of where the noise is entering your home.

Citiquiet vs Soundproof Windows
There are two companies I'm looking at -- Soundproof Windows and CitiQuiet here in the city. We have 10 windows in my place and they all need to be replaced like yesterday. Soundproof wanted $9K and Citiquiet for $11K. Not sure what to do. CitiQuiet seems to have the better rep from what I can see.

Citiquiet Windows Cost
Citiquiet and Cityproof Windows recently gave us bids on our apartment. While CitiQuiet was 25% less in cost, CityProof does seem to get better ratings online.

Jason, I would certainly go with the CityProof option if you are planning to stay in your apartment long term. If your timeline in the space is ten years or less, then I think it makes more sense to go with the CitiQuiet and save yourself the money.
"I recently installed a test window from Soundproof Windows, but it wasn't quite as effective as I was hoping for. The bid to do the entire house was roughly $10K, and Citiquiet's bid came in at roughly half of that. So my question is how good is CitiQuiet and what is there STC ratings on their windows. The CitiQuiet installer or person who gave me the bid said our walls were sturdy and didn't think that the issue was with them." — Michael, Homeowner CitiQuiet offers a 3/8" thick glass that is comprised of two 3/16" panes with an insulation layer in between and is a pretty solid solution. The company claims that this window will reduce noise 95% over single pane aluminum windows and this is probably right, especially considering how bad the STC rating usually is on an old single pane window. They offer a variety of glass thickness, laminated or low-e, tints, and other options. They claim their 1/2" laminated window option will provide an STC 38. I really have no knowledge as to whether or not the company is good or not. I've read a few reviews (that all seemed to be decent), but I can't say whether they are the company to go with. Contractor Response:
Versus CitiProof Windows
I've gotten bids from both Citiquiet and Cityproof and really don't know who to go with. Citiquiet was about 25% less expensive, but I don't want to just go with the low cost provider.

[Consumer Response]
I recently hired a sound guy to give me advise on what he thought and he said that CityProof was better than Citiquiet. However, they are also more expensive, so it's unclear to me whether it's worth the higher price. In all likelihood, I'll end up going with the CityProof windows, even at the higher price. Read additional soundproof window reviews.

Citiquiet vs Indow Inserts
I live in Brooklyn so I wasn't sure whether these were available to me. It turns out they have two resellers here in the area. We did have some direct contact with Indow Widnows in Portland and they were awesome.
We live in an old converted wherehouse and the single pane windows have some nice historic value, but they suck at keeping out the cold and noise. Storm windows seemed like a perfect option because we wanted to keep the basic look and feel. These windows are pretty funky because they are arched at the top and certainly not plumb, which was one of the reasons that the window prices so high. Indow suggested that we install a support beam across the middle and then install two smaller windows that would have a better seal for the odd shape.
The quotes from Citiquiet and Cityproof were very comparable ($9,700 and $9,900 installed) for our 3 very large window opening, each roughly 4' by 8'. The installed cost for Indow from our local installer was $3,000 and that included everything.
It took 8 weeks to order and ship across country and the installation had some definite hiccups that were the fault of the openings. Indow and our local installer handled everything really well and I was definitely impressed with the level of customer service they offered. We went with the standard inserts, but they have proved very effective at both noise reduction and keeping our old place much warmer. All in all, a great experience and I hope others can find out about this company.

Citiquiet Windows Reviews
I'm on a very loud block in the East Village and need some sort of soundproofing option. The two companies that seem to always come up in Google searches are Citiproof and Citiquiet. I would like some real opinions on the quality of the windows they sell and what I can expect to pay. Thanks.

I'm midway through the whole process so I can only tell you what I've found. I met with one of the owners of Citiquiet and he has been very helpful as far as offering solutions for my windows, which are oddly shaped and his general demeanor etc. He wasn't pushy and didn't try to shove anything down our throats, which I appreciated. There is a long lead time on the actual order though, two months, which seems very long to me, but maybe that's normal. I'll give a report on the rest of it when they actually get installed.
