Overall Rating:Relief Windows gets a 4.8 out of 5 stars based on 3consumer reviews below.
My Take On This Company: Relief Windows gets excellent reviews on many of the main review sites online. Generally, the company offers pretty good window, door, and siding brands. While collectively I wouldn't say what they carry is great, there is a solid option in each of these categories. My overall opinion is that Relief windows is well worth a price quote if you live in Louisiana and the company has a local dealer that installs in your zip code.

Relief sells and installs Wincore windows as their vinyl and impact windows, and Jeld-Wen Windows as their wood-clad options. As a rule of thumb, I like all three of these options (although I am always very wary about recommending wood windows in general).
In term of their doors, Releif sells Wincore, Jeld Wen and SSI Millworks - all solid options as well. They sell ProVia and James Hardie siding products, and Elegant Window Fashions shutters (which I know absolutely nothing about).
"Relief sells Wincore Windows and ProVia siding, both of which are good quality products."
Relief Windows Warranty
The company offers a pretty darn good warranty on all of their services. They rely on the manufacturer's warranty as the basis for product repair or replacement so you have to go to the company warranty to see the specifics - this link provide many window company warranty basics.
In terms of labor (which is what Relief handles) they offer lifetime on many of the products (that extent to manufacturing defects). So if your windows fail due to a manufacturing defect at year 10, Relief will cover the labor portion on the replacement. Exclusions and limitations apply so please read the warranty in full prior to purchase.

Window Replacement Quotes And Options
I’m hoping you can share your perspective on what I have. My wife and I began looking into replacing our vinyl windows and since then, we’ve had a few companies come out and provide estimates. We've been more than a little surprised by how varied the price quotes have been.
First off, Champion quoted us $25,000 for 13 windows, which immediately felt excessive. Renewal by Andersen came in even higher at $45,000 for the full house. This was way excessive.
Up until recently, I didn’t know much about window brand options or performance metrics like U-factor, SHGC, and VT, but I’ve been trying to educate myself. Now it strikes me as strange that every company so far has recommended the exact same window model. Especially since Window Depot advertises ProVia products on their website, I expected they might suggest something like the ProVia Endure line. Their pricing seems more in line with what I would have assumed a higher-end product like that would cost—yet it still feels steep.
Have window prices really climbed this much in recent years, or does this seem inflated to you? We’re both in our twenties and can’t help but wonder if that’s playing into the sales approach. I’m planning to reach out next to company that carres ViWinTech, Vytex, and ProVia, and they highlight the Vytex Fortis windows online. Do you think the Vytex Fortis is a stronger option than the ProVia Endure? Thanks in advance.

Dave, I do like the Wincore 7700 series bid and do think that the price seems better than the first two options - Champion vs Renewal By Andersen. Also, I don't think you should go with a company that doesn't have a good track record since you have some good options on the board. And I know that Relief has good online reviews in general.
The only question for me is what price quotes would be available on the ProVia Endure series (the best window of the bunch on the board), as well as the Vytex Fortis (which I like over the 7700 series).

Relief Windows Reviews
Dane, thanks so much for your list and your recommendations in my area. Buying windows is a black hole filled with options, marketing hype, buzzwords, etc. Makes our head spin. And all the time sitting through 90 minute presentations. We finally decided to go with Relief windows out of Prairieville, LA. Great outfit from everything that we saw.
Never would have found them without your help so thank you very much for that. It was definitely the case that there didn't seem like any good options at first, but once we started turning over the rocks, there were some nice little gems out there. If I can ever help you out, I'll will gladly do so.

Mike, I am certainly glad that the Relief quote worked out and do keep me up to date if you think about it as far as how everything turns out. And the only thing you could do for us going forward is to tell your friends and family about our website. There's lots of competition on the internet so we appreciate any referrals to our site and will help them find great windows and doors at a fair price point!

Vinyl or Fiberglass In Louisiana
I want to use Marvin Integrity replacement windows and my husband wants Simonton (high end). I know one is fiberglass and one is vinyl and wondered what your take is on vinyl vs fiberglass windows. Will the fiberglass last longer and be better quality than high end vinyl? We also looked into Relief windows, but didn't like the windows that they installed - Win-Dor maybe. Thank you.

[Site Editor's Response]
Cheryl, the Marvin Integrity is the better window in my opinion than anything that Simonton makes, with the possible exception of the Stormbreaker Plus, which is their impact window and not a fair comparison. The fiberglass will hold up as well or better than the vinyl over time. There is debate in the industry over which material is more durable, I tend to give a slight edge to fiberglass.
If you can afford the Integrity, like the look of it, and feel good about the installation, this is the choice I would make. The premium Simonton vinyl windows however are not far behind the Integrity so I would also advise to go with the company and installation team that you feel most confident as to the quality of their work. The installation is quite an important piece of the project.
Interestingly, I've heard quite good things about Relief (I believe they sell Wincore, not Win-Dor windows), but I think if you can afford the Marvin fiberglass windows and like the look, then this is the right course of action. Best of luck to you going forward! Thanks for checking out our Relief windows reviews page as we are hoping to get this more visibility for more consumers down the line.

Relief Windows Prices
I live in the Lake Charles, Louisiana area. We are replacing 22 windows. The six largest are 36x72, three more are 28x72 and the remaining are various smaller sizes. All windows were quoted with Low E double impact glass and bronze exterior color. Either laminated or painted, depending on the brand. Wondering if painted or laminated windows is better? Also, will the aluminum window hold up better than the vinyl due to the darker color?
Sunrise standard $18,200 installed.
Relief Windows 1100 Series (Wincore 5400?) $17,101 installed.
NT Presidential $17,180 installed.
NT Twinsluator $15,630 installed.

Donald, the best window of the bunch is probably the Sunrise. Those are good window prices with a bronze exterior. Then the Presidential, followed closely by the Twinsulator. Painted doesn't matter one way or the other. A laminated glass makes glass very strong and good for storms and sound. That definitely adds to the cost.
Aluminum windows are very strong and will hold up longer than vinyl. They are really bad for energy efficiency. Typically, I only recommend them for hot climates that really beat down windows over time. Louisiana is close, but I think vinyl is the way to go. South Texas is usually where aluminum windows make sense.

Tim, Thank you for your reply. I have been reading several forums and some of the pros in the Houston area mention it would be wise to have a reinforced sash in a vinyl window. Does the Standard Sunrise window have this, it seems the NT Presidential does, possibly an aluminum one. The NT Twinsulator installer (Houston Based) recommended them over the NT Vinyl Traditions primarily due to the dark color, he says dark vinyl windows have a potential for sagging - warping do to the heat in our area.
Of my largest windows 4 face South and 5 Face West both directions have no shade. I am 125 miles due East of Houston. I like the efficiency rating of vinyl but am concerned about longevity. The Sunrise window warranty states it covers warping while the NT warranty does not. I would not think it would be an issue with the aluminum window but could with a vinyl window. I spoke with NT windows directly, they have dark vinyl window installs going on 10 years that have held up well, he recommended the Presidential series. Is this the same as their Traditions Series? I appreciate your insight.

Don, I don't believe the Sunrise comes standard with a reinforced sash. You would have to pay for that upgrade, but well worth it. Darker exterior aluminum frames do pull in a lot more heat. If it were me, I would probably go with a Sunrise in white. Especially since you are worried about longevity. The Sunrise with a reinforced sash and a good glass package should do well in your area.
However, if longevity is your biggest concern, then go with an aluminum window. The Twinsulator is a good aluminum window. Don Young also makes an excellent aluminum window. I'm not an expert in your climate/region, so I can't say for certain what the best option is for you. The Sunrise is the better brand over the NT, although the Presidential is a good series.
