Window Replacement Cost QuotesDane, I have 13 windows to replace around the house that really need a full update. So I took your advise and collected 4 bids, only 3 of which I will consider - even though the Andersen 400 bid is probably out of our budget. I'd love to get your opinion on the bids I have. Thanks in advance.
[Site Editor's Answer]Brenda, the Andersen 400 bid is simply too expensive to consider, unless you have to have a wood window. Personally, I think they are over rated myself. I'm not a huge fan of the Alside Mezzo window, I think it is less than sturdy. I am a big fan of the Okna 500 Deluxe. I would negotiate you bid and see if you can't get the dealer to come down off that initial price.
Andersen Windows ComplaintsWe're replacing 30 windows in the home and we want to stick with wood for the overall look of the house, but man oh man, are they ever expensive! I broke them all down according to the per window price and that includes tax, install, haul away, and permits.
Site Editor's ReplyBetsy, you are correct those are very expensive bids. But because they are so similar to one another, I have to assume that that's the fair market price. The Andersen 400 or the Marvin Ultimate would be my call, with the nod going to the Marvin Ultimate series.
Andersen Window ComplaintI live on long Island and had 12 vinyl windows replaced with Anderson Woodrights they are the noisiest window and Anderson refuses to do anything, they did try and put rubber in by the springs to quit the noise to no avail. So because I live in a tudor I need brown as an exterior color and wondered if you could recommend a window to replace these Andersons. Thanks.
[Site Editor's Response]Bob, that sounds horrible, have you had someone out (not Andersen) to see if there is anything you can do to deal with the noise? Seems a shame to have to get rid of all your windows because they are loud (I'm not sure I've ever heard that)
Andersen 200 Sliding Doors ComplaintI purchased via Home Depot, 2 200 Series Anderson sliding glass doors with impact glass. Top of the line, but not even recognized by TDI (Texas Department of Insurance. In other words, my Windstorm engineer that was going to watch our installation for Windstorm insurance compliance, informed me that the doors were not TDI approved and installing them would void windstorm insurance coverage.
Andersen Customer ComplaintsWe built our house and it's only 6 months old. We had the Peachtree windows put in, and they've been nothing but trouble. We're already working on our 3rd set of replacement sashes. Some of them won't even lock because the fit is so bad. I'd pay the extra money and get Andersens instead.
Andersen Customer Service ComplaintI found your site by googling Andersen windows complaints and I have one of my own. Andersen's customer service is a joke. I spent over $20,000 on doors and windows from them. One of the doors has a split in the wood. Some of the screens are faulty and don't fit into the frames. We ordered in the spring, but delivery was delayed for some reason which they never shared with me so it didn't come until August. I'm in Phoenix, and I'm not going to try and do all that work in the middle of an Arizona summer, so I stored everything until it cooled down in October.
