Anlin Warranty
The company offers good warranty terms, which includes a limited lifetime on the frame, sash and all components (free from manufacturing defects). The warranty also includes accidental glass breakage (note the provision states that the breakage is due to manufacturing defect). Finally, the warranty may be transferred to an additional owner for up to 15 years of the date of purchase.
"Anlin is one of the best options on the West Coast. Some dealers sell the brand at a higher price point than what I think is fair, but others price out the windows and doors very fairly. The Del Mar is Anlin's premium vinyl window and a high quality series (maybe in my top 20 across the country). Here are some standard features on the Del Mar -- 2.9 inch mainframe depth, Elite non metallic spacer, equal sightlines, and 2x strength glass. The Del Mar can be ordered as a single slider, singl hung, a fixed frame, or in several geometric shapes. Finally, the Del Mar is energy star compliant in all 4 regions of the country. Hi Dane, I was looking at your Q&A website today. What a fantastic service you are providing to prospective window buyers. We live in San Jose, CA. My husband and I are in the market for 7 retro windows and a patio door. We have received 2 bids.
Bid 1: 7 Simonton DaylightMax windows.
Installed for $9,790
Masonite door with 2 sidelites and obscure glass.

Bid 2: 7 Anlin Del Mar expanded view windows with pull tight cam locks.

Our friends live in Modesto and installed 21 Anlin windows, a sliding glass door, a backyard entry door with a single hung window, and double entry way doors both with decorative glass for $30,000. This was 5 years ago. We really like the Anlin windows but we think that the pricing is quite high. What do you think? If it is too high, is it appropriate to have another Anlin dealer quote us a price or are they working in territories?
Are you familiar with entry way doors? What do you think of the pricing we have received? We have to make a decision next week because the installation time on the windows is about two months out. It’s even longer for the doors. Sincerely.

Frances, the pricing seems high on that Anlin quote. To be sure, the Anlin is the better product over the Simonton Daylight. Still, I think the Simonton/Masonite is probably the better value in this picture. Anlin and ProVia is a great combo, but $8K plus for those doors is pricey.
If there is another Anlin dealer who will bid out your project, then absolutely get their bid. I think you need another Simonton bid, as well as maybe a Milgard dealer bid.
I think a few more bids will show you whether the bids are high because its summer and these guys are busy, or whether the bids are simply overinflated.

Del Mar Series Cost
Hi Dane, I'm struggling getting window quotes on my house. I've had quite a few come out that range from 27k (window world) to 55k (Anlin Del Mar) for 37 windows. A large part of the price 4 large cathedral windows at the front, which some companies won't even touch. At any rate, I seem to have found a good window, the Alside Mezzo windows (triple pane). It has a .19shgc and .22u-factor. The cost is $623 for a double-hung window that is roughly 48x84 After talking with the company I believe their installation team will do a good job.
Do you think this is a solid window for the price? What worries me most is the VT on the window is .4. Is that going to be too dark? We are going from old aluminum windows that probably have a vastly higher VT. Thanks in advance!

James, I would say Alside Mezzo triple pane windows are more like higher end mid range vinyl window. That quote from the Anlin Del Mar rep is pretty out of control. If you feel comfortable with the Alside Mezzo and the installation team, then good on you.
As far as the VT rating, this is mostly a function of the glass. So your old aluminum windows with clear glass let in tons of light and tons of heat. The newer windows will filter out those UV rays, and some light. I can't really answer whether that will bug you or not unfortunately. It's a very personal sort of reaction, but it will be a much more energy efficient window and keep your rooms and homes much more comfortable in those hot months, which is probably worth the loss of a bit of light.

Anlin Windows Price List
Hi Dane, I had a company that carries Anlin windows come out to give me a quote for 9 windows and 1 sliding door. I believe it's the Del Mar series that is soundproof for $9800. I also had a another company that carries Simonton windows come to quote me for the same exact windows for $8770 and if it's a check they will even take $500 off.
I am having a hard time to find most current reviews of these 2 products comparison. Each company is saying there product is better than the other

Sue, the Anlin Del Mar series is good. The quote sounds high to me. Assuming that the sliding door is $2,000, that's quite a bit for the 9 windows.
The $8270 for the exact same windows sounds much more in line with what I would expect (not knowing the size of windows, upgrades, etc.). I'm a little confused if this is for Simonton windows vs Anlin with this second company. Simonton makes some pretty mediocre window series, as well as some very good windows, so if we are comparing Anlin and Simonton, I'd need to know what Simonton series we are talking about.
In general, Anlin is the better window by a bit, but again it depends on which series you are comparing.

Anlin Catalina Windows Prices
The Catalina is one of the company's drop down windows (along with the Coronado and Panoramic) from the premium Del Mar series. To be honest, Anlin really doesn't make an entry level window. Replacement Windows In Colorado Springs
Hi Dane, Modern Windows and Doors, a local company here in Colorado Springs, gave me an estimate for the 12 Anlin Catalina windows and two sets of patio sliders. At the time they were here, I wasn’t confident about replacing the half moon decorative windows, and so their quote didn’t include those. Their quote is for $26,630.
Peakview Windows, Siding, and Stucco sells both Anlin and Provia, they gave me quotes for both with the 12 windows, two half moon picture windows, and 2 sets of patio sliders. Anlin $25,185 and Provia $26,745. I like that there’s an option in the Anlin slider doors to have a dog door installed directly into one of the patio doors. Peakview also could get me Sunrise windows, but they said that the customer service with Sunrise had been a little challenging for past customers.
In any case, I am really liking the Anlin double lifetime warranty, and I believe that Peakview has a longer warranty on workmanship than the others - but I need to check those details and compare between the different companies. I am also very interested to hear your perspective about the installation process. One company - Modern Windows - insists that a nailing fin is the best way to install the replacement windows, and gave me some examples of customers who had been burned by pocket fit window installation - I guess with the caulk going bad, they ended up with significant structural damage around the windows.
The two other companies have suggested that I could do a nailing fin process if want to but that with my house being stucco, it could create more problems than it may be worth. Plus there’s the added cost of anywhere from $200 to $425 per window, depending on who I go with. The guy from Peakview suggested that the type of window being replaced here would work well with a pocket fit because it doesn’t have a big bulky frame to worry about. I so much appreciate your help with this process!!

Hi Michelle, so the Peakview bid sounded like the best pricing and I like that they carry both Anlin and ProVia. (Read our ProVia Windows Reviews for additional info on this company.) A good warranty is always nice (although I tend not to put all that much stock in warranties myself). I like Anlin and ProVia equally, and either one is going to serve you well if installed correctly.
Full frame installation is the more labor intensive and costly installation process. Full frame install in stucco is a real pain because once the window is on, then you have to match the stucco color, which is tricky because the stucco has faded some from the time it was installed. I tend to think that you have to paint a stucco home in conjunction to with the new windows to really dial in the overall look (unless you get someone really good).
I would be inclined to stick with the insert install and then have someone come out in 8 to 10 years and have them inspect the caulk and if needed redo it for a tight seal. That is, unless your house is ready for a new paint job and you can afford to do everything in one fell swoop.

Anlin Windows Price List :: Panoramic Series
The Panoramic uses a thinner frame to maximize the glass area of the window. While this is going to have some affect on energy efficiency, the Panoramic is a quality window series. I would give the Panoramic a 7.0 out of 10.

Apparently, the company that gave me the Anlin Del Mar bid has a lock on that brand in my area. Another company is going to give me a quote on Anlin Panoramic and Simonton Daylight Max. My husband said he does not envision living in this house for more than 5 years due to his age so he doesn’t want me to spend too much on the windows. I found a window company that carries both Simonton and Anlin. Their quote for 7 Simonton DayLight Max windows is $6,498. Their quote for Anlin Panoramic is $6,697. Any thoughts on which is the better window/deal?

Frances, I understand not wanting to spend much money on windows with your timeline. However, the Anlin Panoramic quote is a much better value than the Simonton Daylight Max bid. Anlin makes a very good window.

Anlin Malibu Door Sliding Doors Cost
The Malibu series door is a very well made vinyl patio door that is arguably the best vinyl patio door available in the western half of the country. The spoiler to this statement would be the ProVia Endure series, which is probably the better door if I'm being honest. The Malibu is in a tight second though. Also, the Endure is a much tougher product to find via local window companies. I would give the Malibu a 9.6 out of 10.

Malibu Doors And Del Mar Windows Cost
Hello Dane and Tim, I came upon your site and I would like to get your opinion on the two quotes I received. I live in San Diego in a 2 bedroom condo. My current windows are fine but it's the original single pane window that they installed when they built the condo in 1986.
Since I just had a new flooring done, I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade the windows as well. My place doesn't really get too cold or too hot but the recent winter had required my elderly mom to have the heater running through the night. I have no complaints on the level of noise. It's not by a main street.
I have a total of 5 windows and a sliding door (8 feet sliding door), so total 6 windows.
I got 3 quotes. Once for a Pela 250 from Lowes, one for Anlin Del Mar for the windows and the Malibu for the sliding door with a local installer and another from a local installer that says their product is similar to the Simonton Madiera or Daylight Max, their product name has different name.
I'm deciding on the Anlin Del Mar and Malibu vs the the Simonton Madiera/Daylight Max.
Anlin Del Mar is $5,968 in total project which includes labor and materials and disposal of old materials.

Right now I'm trying to get the sales guy for the Anlin to come down closer to the Simonton. Would you put the Anlin and Simonton the same category or family? I'm wondering because of the price range but based on what they told me, seems like they have same features and benefit.
One of my neighbor had the same installer as the Anlin but she doesn't remember the manufacture of the windows that she got but happy with the install and the product. My other neighbor got their windows from the installer for the Simonton. Both of these neighbors are happy with their windows and installer.
Right now I'm leaning towards the Anlin because of what the salesman showed me. The Anlin screen frame seems sturdier than the Simonton and the whole product seems better but that's because of what the salesman for the Anlin showed me. I would like your opinion of which is better for me and bang for my bucks.

Hi Christina, so I would put the Simonon Daylight Max below the Anlin Del Mar in terms of quality. Some of the upper echelon windows from Simonton are on par with the Anlin Del Mar, but not the Daylight Max. So I would say the Anlin is definitely worth the extra money over the Simonton.
However, the Simonton Daylight Max is a decent mid range vinyl window and probably fine for San Diego. If I were staying in the home long term, I personally would spend the extra money on the Anlin. If I were not sure about how long I was going to stay, I'd probably opt for the Simonton. Of course, the quality and reputation of the installer would play a big role in my decision.
I would still try to get the Anlin dealer to match the Simonton quote. I don't think he would come down that far, but I would see how low I could get him to go.

Thank you so much for the quick response! As of now, I do intend to stay in the condo for the unforeseeable future but never know what the future holds. I do like the Del Mar better.
Right now the offer is for $5,626 (~$300 lower) for Del Mar windows and Malibu patio door. He also offering the BAYVIEW by MONTEVERDE for $4,700 (price match to the Daylight) for Bayview windows and patio door or $4,999 for Bayview windows and Malibu patio door. The warranty on the Del Mar is definitely the best of the 3 options.
The installer for the Anlin and the Monteverde is the same company that my neighbor had her windows installed over 5 years ago and she's happy with them and no problem so far. So that's why I'm leaning towards this installer.
What do you think about the Bayview? Is the price good for them and quality? He said that these are the best prices for them (Del Mar and Bayview). I'm sitting out for a while longer and see if he would come back lower :) I have 30 days to think about it.
